I get colds regardless of the weather...we tend to get them in winter more often because cold weather lowers the immune system.

I don't think its because the parents don't care. They may even be just as worried as you. But there's a balance between being protective and letting your child explore the world. Everything has risks, everyone gets hurt--that's part of life and part of learning about life, just as we all make mistakes.
