Health Care: The Morality Angle

I haven't written here in a while as I feel I cannot spark the vigorous discussions I have in the past. I miss that. Lack of vigorous discussion makes me feel like I am getting less intelligent.

Many religious leaders have sided with a government run health care plan, including the leaders of my Catholic faith. I love my faith, but I can't figure ( Read more... )

When you figure out how to stop making independent health care cost so much, let me know.

Since I am not an actuary, I cannot, but I can tell you a few things that need to be done other than the more charitable private way by the churches and clinics and whatnot and I shall share them now. I am passionate about this issue and I agree that healthcare needs to be reformed, but a public option will only hack at the branches instead of getting to the root of the matter, plus it will lead to rationing and shortages...and long lines! As a parent who has a little girl who is sick a lot I cannot afford to have to wait for her to be taken care of ( ... )

There's a lot to your statement to think about but in the end, if we stick only to private insurance for citizens we're always going to have a group left behind. Tax credits are just a means to keep the existing system in place. That's really the way it ends up. And you know who are those usually left behind? Not the very poor, no they can get Medicare or something, but people like me, that make too much for it but not enough to afford a private plan.

I'm sure there's a happy medium out there but I don't know exactly what it is.

I know of your dilemma and I sympathize with you, because you told it to me the other day. There are always those who slip through the cracks and something should be availiable for people like you, who are juuuuussst above the waterline. What I believe is that the government cannot provide it. Another reason why the govt can't provide it is this: lack of compassion and lack of understanding of what each individual citizen needs. I say the churches and the charities need to get involved because they care about and have love for their neighbor. The government does not care about you, I or anyone else other than what gets them elected or re-elected. They have ZERO compassion for people. Why should a body who does not give a flying fuck for anyone be in charge of providing health care to its citizens? Churches and charities care, not governments.

Anyway, I hope you have the best of luck in your search for employment! *hugs*
