I'm trying to become a seafood girl. I hear it's good for you. I've done splendidly this week. Two nights of salmon and a night of cod. And I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the dishes. Out of curiosity, I had the fish man throw in just five mussels. I was sort of curious. All the mussel recipes I see show them coming (and being cooked

I'm not a shellfish kind of gal. I like fish. Mostly red snapper and salmon. I do like crab. And lobster is fine. Not my favorite...but good. I have seen many recipes for clams...in shells...steamed in white wine and butter sauce with garlic and chopped fresh parsley. That might be something I have to try becuase it sounds SO GOOD.

You just had to tell me that, didn't ya? teehee I had to go get some more and some fresh sage to give it a try.
I've never been big on fish or shellfish--or so I thought. But I'm really loving it. What I thought were mussels yesterday were actually scallops. They weren't the greatest. Kinda chewy. But it definitely because I had no idea how to prepare them since I thought I was preparing mussels!
I've not had red snapper. The only way I've tried crab is in a crab ragoon, which I'm sure is fake crab and only a miniscule amount at that.
Have you ever cooked a live crab? That will be the ultimate challenge for me. Apparently, you're supposed to cook mussels while they're alive, too. *eeep*
But, for today, my challenge isn't seafood but brussel sprouts. I hate them! But I'm trying to find ways to at least LIKE some of the things I hate. Liver is a long way down the road. Next to tongue and brain. Oooof.
Whatcha doing today?

Brussels sprouts..LOVE them roasted. Drizzle with olive oil and kosher salt...roast in a 450 oven until tender...maybe 20 minutes or so? So yummy...and caramelized. Mmmmm...
Liver.? Only with bacon and onions. So I'm sure it's no longer healthy after that! Brains? Never. Ever. In a bajillion years. Nope.

Salmon is Lovely! Very nice with Ginger, soysaurce, chillies and honey.
Seafood is expensive... but you may be able to find a local fish market or find fish thats in season = cheaper :D
