Also, most obviously; they're both mice.

Pokemon hit when I was too old to ever appreciate it, so I've got a closer affinity for Mickey.

But either way, they're both corporate whores.

Heh. I liked it when it first came out before the little kids discovered it, but I was a dork.

I have a deep and unending love for Pikachu. I recently went to Pokemon day at the MOA and had a blast. I got into Pokemon in 1997 and was instantly hooked. I am a registered master trainer for both the video games and the TGC (card game). I have so much Poke' stuff it's embarrassing. My hubby and I were recently lamenting the same question... And we stumbled across the fact that yellow cartoon characters are very successful. Pikachu, Spongebob Squarepants, Tweety, the Simpsons (yellow skin)... We were pondering if Pikachu is going to become more socially recognizable than Mickey. I think only time will tell. Considering that Disney movies are considered a staple of parenting, and at some point we'll all be working for the mouse (complete with a tattoo of Mickey's head in silhouette and a bar code underneath)... I think MM is here to stay

HAH! Good point. Although those Japanese are crafty. What if they are in cahoots? PS, that's really interesting about the Pika thing. I didn't know that!
