the problem being that WWII saved the economy by creating jobs, and well, this war has not created any jobs (except military, but as they are not using the draft they are having serious issues with even this), so instead of helping the economy at all, it just caused the value of the dollar to go down. While the recession may have been inevitable, and the war may have been the admin's way of trying to fix it, they actually made it worse.
