Things are going... well?

So,  yesterday Dragon Boy got laid off, which means that he needs to find a new job, and I need to try and find another one. In other good news his car won't pass the insurance inspection, so we need a new car. So, in celebration of his layoff and the belt tightening it will cause, we went out for supper and we went to see Australia

I forgot that it was a Baz Lurhman movie until it started and that helped it make more sense to me. I like how his movies start with something absurd and the characters are all over-exaggerated and as you get into the story the sillyness fades away and the drama really starts. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. The little boy was so cute and I loved Hugh Jackman because he got to be manly and he got to smile and be a teeny tiny bit silly. Nicole Kidman got to be really silly and it just reminded me of Moulin Rouge and made me really like her character.  The first half reminded me of those really long romance novels and I liked that because then it shifted .  In all I liked it.

So that was last night, and on Sunday night I forced the Dragon Boy to see Twilight with me.

For the past little while I'd been amusing myself by reading all the Twilight bashing out there, which I found quite entertaining. I liked the books while I was reading them, but after a little bit of thought I found Edward to have little to no character and Bella to be ... well, just stupid. So, when I read that the people who made the move did the best they could with what they were given, I was intrigued. So I went to see it.
And I liked it. Edward  had  a little bit of depth to him, and  he smiled, I liked that. Bella was stilla an idiot, but the people around her had a little more personality. Jasper's face made me smile the whole time, and Alice reminded me of someone I couldn't place, which bothered me. I liked Emmet... and Rosalie bothered me just as much as she was supposed to. In the books I just ignored her untill book four. It was still unbeliveably cheesy and very girly. I don't like Bella's personality,  and  the bad vampires  I didn't like, but I liked it. So there.  The boy was dissapointed in the the one lame action scene, because they built it up for him and then it was lame.

Yup, other than that, things have been going ok. Still no snow, oh and I got a suitcase full of yarn from my Grandma, which means I don't have to buy any  more yarn for a while. well I need to do dishes and eat.
