I wrote about him in the past in a positive way. He seems to be one of the few "gedolim" speaking up against extremism. I still think his beard's funny.
His beard looks funny because (according to the story I've heard) he used to stroke his beard while concentrating and once mistakingly pulled out a hair on Shabbos. Since then he doesn't touch his beard, ever, so that it should not happen again. Including regular combing.
I don't know about that. If so, how do you interpret his comment about Berlin? To me, he seems to be saying that it is just as morally reprehensible for Jews to refuse to rent to Arabs as it was for Germans to refuse to rent to Jews.

This is legitimate.
But he doesn't frame it as an ethical issue toward Arabs at all.
