Tatte, I want to ask you the four questions...

The first question is why on all the other nights of the year, our house looks normal, but today the kitchen looks like an alien spaceship has landed, has landed.

The second question is why on all the other nights of the year, we eat normal vegetables and fruit but tonight mommy has peeled the ( Read more... )

Thanks for reminding me, but I wanted to post on Pesach chumros last year. I was too busy covering the kitchen with foil to do it though ( ... )

Likewise. I often look in on your blog, and I hope that you enjoy the law life. It can be very stressful. Hopefully, you can talk to the shliach (Rabbi Deitsch is it?) without getting agita. It sounds to me that your recent tone indicates that you are making some peace, and it is very important. I posted about this last year, how important it was to make peace with it all, at least for me it was.

And you can take this prediction to the bank with your Gutnik diamond stock. In 25-50 years, Pesach will be an 8 day fast, other than the seder required foods. There may be some heretics that eat a little on the eighth day. Since you will only a need a few pieces of matzah, each matzah will cost $500 ($5000 a pound), if you get the cheap Ukranian stuff.

If you are so worried

Why Not on the night of April 18th A Ham and Cheese on Rye Sandwich

Then you can really say why this night is different.

On All other nights we eat Kosher, but on this Night Chazer

I'll be mean and tell you that, as a nice Ashkenazi girl who married an Iraqi boy and goes to a Chabad shul without taking on Lubavitchim minhagim, our seders will feature ( ... )

I would like to become your LOR. For a small donation of $1000, I would allow you to eat gebrokts. For an even smaller donation of $5000, kitniyot would be allowed. And, of course, if you choose to donate a very generous $18K to my special yeshivah fund, I'd allow you to eat pesachdike bread, as long as it is under a proper chassidishe hashgocho.

I am jealous. Already.

You're right about today's chumras existing as an extension of an earlier time when such "chumras" were simply the necessary way of life.

Back to cleaning...

You're conflating Lubavitch shtick with actual Orthodox halachic practice. Sounds to me like you have an issue with Chabad, not with Orthodoxy. Lubavipraxy.

Btw, I hope you have purchased a pesachdike toilet seat this year, as you know, the existing one has become not kosher for Passover because of obvious contamination, if you know what I mean.

But what about the toilet bowl? I've seen grains of corn floating in it on occasion.

I actually meant to say "toilet bowl", in Russian we just call the whole installation "a toilet".

Plastic bags over matzoh? We're Satmar and my parents have some pretty strict chumros, but that is one crazy rule. It beats them all.
