I've been thinking about this anonymous September 11 2011, 20:39:41 UTC
Is it possible for your husband to pursue this with the school? Assuming he shares your distaste with the bigotry, even if they're more suited to his values in frumkeit, it might go much better. If the situation were inverted - the kids went to the MO school, something happened that was too "modern," and as a couple you weren't happy about it, you would probably get a more sympathetic hearing than your husband, even if (because?) you weren't the most offended parent ( ... )

If you believe (and you are right) that you don't want your kids exposed to stuff you disagree on, but that at the same time you think they will deal well with exposure to different values, then it's also true about the slave thing...

What concerns me most is the lack of manners and niceness. Telling the slave thing in front of the "concerned" person? That's absolutely nuts and repulsive.

It is also not certain your children will fit in well at a public school. Maybe yes! and maybe not.

It wouldn't have impressed the principal as being in any way "wrong" oneironstring September 12 2011, 04:07:17 UTC
Unfortunately, that's the way things are done in the frummie world, where adult tattling is par for the course. No adult frum woman wants to miss an opportunity to impress others with how pious she is! I'm surprised that the principal was able to identify OSM's daughter from the drive-by bully mom's description. ? Is that weird, or what?

It's way too much like Big Brother to me. I could not tolerate that.

OSM, please work on the MO school. I think if you tell them that you are terribly disturbed by the environment your child is in over at the BY school, they will become more convinced that you are a good fit for them.
