Many websites have tznius-related posts this week. I'll sum them up for you and then ask my Rosh Hashanah question.

Matzav Tznius Article Here.  Summary: Having women join hatzalah for ob-gyn emergencies would be immodest. It is a breach of tznius standards.  Better let the men deliver babies.

I can't, they get mad if people cut and paste from closed forums. Basically, it is about this woman and her family who moved to Monsey and she apparently wears a full burka, no opening for the eyes, just a mesh.

No, it is very entertaining. Some of the discussions are good. More normal people have joined. This burkah discussion was all about what is the cause of this extremism in tznius, for example. It was not a bad discussion. Also I got a good gefilte fish recipe from there.

I think it is evil for leading me to waste hours of my time and back in 2007 it nearly caused me a nervous breakdown....but I also appreciate the opportunity that I had to have a direct window into the lives of frum women from a variety of backgrounds. For better or worse, there was direct communication, not articles written by outsiders treating frum women like exotic specimens.

I also think it's somewhat revolutionary, in its own way. You've got all of these frum women, and they are in touch and communicating in their own space without rabbinic supervision. Hard questions can be asked (within the guidelines), you hear about honest struggles with kids and finances and relationships, and there are honest vents and criticisms of things in the frum world. The private sections for women dealing with abuse have grown. I think that if there are going to be changes in some of the more troublesome aspects of frum society, it will likely come from the women.

Wow tznius definitely seems to get crazier and crazier...
As far as prayer for Rosh Hashana, I never really found it too awful that we repeat stuff. They always said we're praying for the entire klal Israel - so in that sense, it's almost like first time for urself, second repeat for family, third for everyone else and so on... E.g. I always felt that this repetition is in order to sort of "get" everyone including those who dont pray and dont care for RH. Prayers were always the least of my problems w orthodox judaism :)
