I'm Getting Done

I've been blogging here for a long time, as blogs go, about six years.

It's been a very useful, helpful outlet, but all good things must come to an end and I'm starting to think about finishing up.

First, the nature of my questions are changing. I am spending more time discussing local social issues and less time on  larger intellectual or halachic ( Read more... )

I think that many of us, rather than feeling sad that you noonger identify with the craziness, are pleased and relieved. Haven't people been questioning you for a long time about why you continue trying to belong in a group whose values are in many ways antithetical to yours?

However we will continue to be baffling about why you place your children in this atmosphere, knowing what you know. That is something that many of your readers probably think still needs to be faced and dealt with. (But perhaps that is what you int d to grapple with in private?)

Anyway, as others have said, I have really enjoyed reading your thoughts and hope you continue to post. Either way, I wish you all the best on every aspect of life.

I agree with OSM on so many levels and I too am at the point where I just don't care. I've bowed away from the craziness of this community and have, instead, worked to foster my relationship with God. It has been like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders ( ... )

I feel exactly the same way. I am blessed that my husband and children tend to feel similarly.

If you still wear a headcovering or other outward trappings of frumkeit, how do you dissociate from the frum community? This is something I'm struggling with. I could stop covering tomorrow, but that would lead to other problems (maybe). Any advice?

I am trying out different things. Sometimes I wear pants to work. Sometimes I actually voice my opinion in a discussion. But I don't have a good answer to your question. I guess I mostly try to convince myself that just b/c I look like them, doesn't mean I act or think like them. It's hard.
