Although the reader can imagine Ogata cooly sitting there smoking and taking it all in, Sai can't do this without his memories. All he has are these worrying impressions gained from his working senses. Its an original approach: that he's now an uninformed observer on a universe that his past actions moulded.
This chapter filled in a lot of backstory too - its good to have a reminder of Blind Luck 1.
But that's also what makes it interesting. Its also a kind of character study of a person who doesn't fully know themselves - and who will, presumably, learn over this story. So, I suppose I'm expecting the Sai we know to gradually come into focus.

As for Sai returning to himself as was; he's living another life, one totally different from what he's lived before, will it not leave him changed?
