016: [Video] You know what they say about curiosity.

[Private from Priestly notverypriestly // Unhackable Open to everyone else]

I am curious about the phenomenon here known as 'City Dead'. Naturally I've read the literature on it and I know what it is as well as the symptoms of being 'city dead'. However, the clinical side of things is really only one side. I would be exceedingly grateful if someone who were ( Read more... )

What do you need to know, Inara?

I suppose, the real question I'd like to ask is how bad is it? I realize that's very broad but I'm not certain I've the knowledge to ask something more specific.

As someone with a heartbeat and a body temperature, I cannot conceive not having one.

Blue, I wasn't aware you fell into this category. I suppose that answers my question about whether one can tell by appearance.

Bad?

I guess it can be bad. Most days I don't even think about it. You get used to it, the cold, and you stop noticing the lack of a heartbeat. Even other people, they might not notice.

Yes, I died. Back home.

I suppose it's better than being really dead. Do you still feel things the same way? For example, when someone touches you, does it feel the same? Do you smell things the same way? Taste them?

How did it happen? If you don't mind my inquiry.

Why do you want to know?

Curiosity. I've experienced a great deal of odd things here and recently a friend of my room mate's was killed. I'm curious as to what she's dealing with as well as to what he can expect from her.

You sound almost like a psychiatrist.

Do I? I suppose it's to be expected. We were taught a good deal of psychology in school.

I don't thing 'personal questions' cover the nature of what you're asking, Inara.

I'm not certain what you mean?

[Yeah she sort of is but she's not showing her hand until she knows what Menolly has in hers]

Really? You look so...normal I suppose.

How does it feel? Does it hurt? Are your senses different? Like touch and smell and taste. Do you feel normal emotions?

Aw, look at Nancy Drew.

Clinically, it should not be possible. There.

I realize that. I suppose clinical is the wrong word to use. I should have said technical.

It still should not be possible in a technical case.

What would be your phrasing, Doctor for the situation?

I assume you've seen some City Dead people in the hospital?

From what I know of it, not everyone experiences being dead the same way.

Indeed? How does it differ? Do you know what makes the difference?

Pardon, I'm being quite rude. My name is Inara.

I don't know. Some people keep eating, some don't. Some people say they feel things differently than they did when they were alive. Some sleep.

It's fine. I'm Justin.

Mmmm so it's a bit personal. I wonder what makes the difference.

Pleased to meet you Justin.
