Wikipedia article on Sonic the OVASonic Wikia article on Sonic the OVAPersonality: Metal Sonic was a robotic clone of Sonic the Hedgehog, made to think like him, respond like him, and predict his movements. To do this, he was infused with Sonic's life-data, and shared a mental link with the hedgehog, knowing everything he did. This link worked both ways, however, influencing both hedgehogs' actions subtly and greatly over the course of their battle. At first, Metal was merely an intelligent machine with muted emotional responses. Robotnik's weaponized programming prevented him from actually developing his own real thoughts beyond considering himself the real Sonic.
With Tails' interference came the budding of Metal's own conscience, building as he and Sonic duked it out once and for all in the Northern Glaciers of The Land of the Sky. During this battle, Metal assimilated Sonic's personality, and something more developed there. When the President's rocket was ablaze, threatening to kill him and blow up the glacier holding the planet together, Metal used everything he had to save him before debris knocked him into a forming lava pool. Despite everything he'd done, he knew Sonic would try to save him.
Instead of accepting the help, however, Metal batted Sonic's hand away. He was heavy and he knew it; if Sonic tried to save them they'd have both been pulled under. Instead he allowed himself to be destroyed, leaving Sonic with the parting words, "There is only one Sonic."
Come Discedo, his personality grew in leaps and bounds. He'd been 'alive' for mere hours on Planet Freedom, so the time spent in Discedo gave rise to a mind and being similar in many ways to Sonic, yet still his own individual. Metal learned the values of Friendship and Family, even developing his own familial relationships with Gate, a Reploid who build Mechaniloids like the robotic hedgehog, and Lucca, a robotics expert with a flair for mad science. Their quirks were familiar to Metal. Comfortable. He became very close to them both, relying on Lucca even moreso for moral guidance.
Like Sonic, he can be brash and arrogant. He is justly proud of his speed and durability, and will sometimes say so directly. Like his counterpart, he also holds life dear, and believes in protecting people.
Unlike Sonic, however, he is also unusually calm at times, almost placid. He has no problems moving slow when doing things like building something, or learning something new. He refuses to be held back by frustration or confusion, instead simply reapplying himself to the problem at hand.
What your character can offer: Metal Sonic is extremely fast, rather intelligent, and seems to get along well with people.
What items will they be bringing with them? Metal will just be bringing himself as he was before, albeit suppressed by the chip.
Third-Person Sample: It had seemed like only seconds since the robot had last been here. Still, everything looked different. Changed. Metal was all too aware of the possible discrepancies in time that could arise, having spoken to several people who had experienced exactly that. With his powers once more denied him, he couldn't explore the city to see what exactly had changed, but he saw it manifest in subtle ways.
Different voices and frequencies on the communicator network had been the biggest sign of how things had changed in his absence, of course. Discedo wouldn't be the place it was without that. Still other things stood out. Some buildings rebuilt, others in worse state ... and new monsters, he was sure.
"Estimated time of absence ... minimum three months," he noted out loud, taking in the sights (what little there was) as he walked the streets. First things first: he needed a means of self-defense until the mod-chip suppressing his abilities could be removed. For that, he'd need a robotics expert. He only hoped Lucca was still in the city; sometimes frequencies were tricky to find on the device. She'd be able to repair him, of that he was very aware. How many times had she fixed and upgraded him? How many times had she polished the grime off his chassis and made sure his joints were oiled and functioning properly? Not even he knew. She was his Mama, after all. The robotic hedgehog wasn't certain if he could handle her being gone again. Those few seconds he had been back on Planet Freedom were practically an eternity for the artificial lifeform.
"If Papa were here," he mused, "he would know what to do first. I, however, must operate on my own ... instinct." It really didn't matter what came after him; Metal knew he could handle it. It was being back that had the most profound effect on him. Planet Freedom had never been home. Discedo was. Metal Sonic was back.
