So Old

Aug 11, 2002 20:01

I suddenly feel really old. Well, more like there was so much culture that kids today won't experience that I did. There was an online quiz about the Baby-Sitters Club. I haven't read them in so long! And I found out that the series had actually ended a while back. I remember when I loved the series so long ago. When I wanted to have my own Club ( Read more... )

I loved watching the Facts of Life and reading The Babysitters Club series. :)

Well, we're the same age so I pretty much grew up on all of the same pop culture goodies as you. The BSC (by the way, I took the quiz: I'm Mary Anne as well...of course, I knew I would be) was...well, let's just say I was obsessed. And after I took that quiz, I did some searching myself and saw that they had ended the series. Now, I'm itching to read the final book, but somehow I think it would just make me sad. Pathetic, huh? But it's like a little piece of your childhood or your life is gone.

And California Dreams! I was so sure I was the only person who watched that show. I almost liked it better than Saved By The Bell (ALMOST, I said ALMOST) because of their cheesy, craptastic songs.

I am also ashamed to admit that there was a time when I counted Full House as my favorite television show. And like, Six on Blossom had the coolest clothes. Hah ( ... )

I kinda want to read the last book for BSC too! Just for nostalgic purposes. Maybe I'll see if my library has it and maybe I can take it out and read it.

I loved "California Dreams"! I downloaded a few of their songs and I remember how my cousin had the album for their songs. And this is really going to sound obsessive, but I'll tell you anyway. I loved them so much that I would used to record the songs off of the show and actually listen to it. But I doubt I still have that tape. I wish they would still show the reruns for it on TBS or something. Even "Saved by the Bell" is only on early in the morning now. All I keep seeing on TBS these days is "Home Improvement". It's a funny show, but I never really liked it as much as the others.

And I remember when I loved Boyz II Men. They're still around, but I'm not much into their music anymore. But I still like "On Bended Knee", "I'll Make Love To You" and "Water Runs Dry". Those are like the classic Boyz II Men or something. :)

i was definitely addicted to the babysitter's club books. especially the special series ones -- and i can't remember their official names right now (which is driving me nuts), but they had one that was all about a snow storm and quite a few others. my bookshelf was packed full of those books, and i'd beg every single time my mom and i stepped into a book store for her to buy me at least one. i wanted to be like stacey -- cool clothes, popular with the boys, all of that fun stuff. actually, i took the quiz and ended up being Mallory. the movie came out when i was in sixth grade and i went to it with my best friend. of course we were "too cool" and "too old" for it then (as we told everyone else), but we figured we'd go for old time sake. it was cute, too, and i think i would watch it again if nostalgia hit while i was searching the racks at the video store. actually, thinking about all of this makes me want to rent it right now :)

Saved by the Bell and Blossom were the coolest back then, too. my sister and i also loved Full ( ... )

I know what you're talking about with the specials! I think I still have some of them in my room. I actually liked those better than the regular books.

And I totally forgot about "Step By Step"! I really liked that show too! But then they started changing the network for it and I think they moved it to CBS after they stopped showing it on TGIF, and then I stopped watching the show. But I still catch it sometimes when they show it on the ABC Family channel.

I used to watch "Are You Afraid of the Dark" too. And it used to scare me so much! Did you see "The Secret World of Alex Mack"? I used to be like completely obsessed with that show.

*sigh* Those were the good ol' days.

Ugh, it makes me feel old too! I loved all those shows (except 'California Dreams' which I think i watched maybe once...), and it's true that there's nothing good on TV anymore! 'Dawson's Creek' has to be the stupidest show ever, and it's awful that there's so many other shows like it! Ick...

Yeah, she's our age. We were at Hot Topics (I think) and there was a "Saved by the Bell" shirt and I remember her saying that she's never seen it before. She's said it on other occasions too and I just want to make her see it some day!
