I bought the new Lady Gaga album on iTunes last night and I'm listening to it today for the first time. I became a huge fan of hers last year, which was surprising to me at the time because I don't usually listen to pop music at all. But she's actually very unique and talented, I respect her tremendously for standing up for progressive causes, and ( Read more... )

I love it! and yay we have a lot of the same favorites, haha:P

I'm also more of a relaxed fan than a stan now:P. I do love her though.

Haha, awesome! Yeah, there are just a few I cannot get it into (like "Government Hooker"), but on the whole it's a good album.

Aww, I don't think you were ever a stan! You were never insane or anything....just a very enthused fan, as was I. But I think almost all enthusiasms for fandoms cool down a bit after awhile. Doesn't mean you don't still love that thing.

And as far as fandoms go, I find the ones I've picked up as an adult I'm not as hardcore about as the ones I picked up as a kid or teen, especially with music. I think it's a maturity and age issue. As a teen my favorite bands and artists separated me from everyone else and defined me ( ... )

Yeah, I was much more hardcore into fandoms myself when I was younger...the Smashing Pumpkins and Tori Amos were my biggest ones, and I discovered them about the same time (1996-1998).

That's so cool that you got the VIP package for Emilie Autumn! I used to listen to her, but haven't in a number of years. Yeah, I'd feel a bit odd being around all those rabid teenagers.

That's very true, what you say...being the same age as the bands you're listening to does make it less of a hero worship thing. I mean, when Tori Amos released "Little Earthquakes" she was the same age I am now (27/28)! When I was 13 that seemed old, but now....craziness.

Several of the songs have grown on me, including "Judas" which I hated the first time I heard it. Replace "Highway Unicorn" with "Government Hooker" and you and I have the same list of favorites. Every time I listen to "Fashion Of His Love" when it gets to the chorus I want to break out in Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" because it sounds similar.

Ha, I remember you saying on Facebook that "Fashion of His Love" reminded you of that Whitney Houston song! I'm going to have to give it another listen and see if I can hear it.

I'm still hoping that "Judas" will grow on me, but I dunno.

It's definitely a grower...I remember listening to it and feeling like "...whut did I just hear" but then after a few repeats, it's become my go-to. I've forgotten there's other stuff on my iPod, haha. It makes my walks/train rides super fierce.

If I had to pick a top three, I think they would be "Marry the Night", "Scheisse", and "Edge of Glory"...although basically I love everything except "Americano" (hi "Alejandro pt II"), "Hair" (the fact that the climax is about "red highlights"...gurl), and "Bad Kids" (That intro. Gurl.). Everything else is a stunning hit. I love what she's done with the background synths and stuff, it's just a level up from TFM.

You should check out the remixes as well - I really like the "Marry the Night" and "Judas" ones. :D

Man, you saying that about your iPod makes me miss mine...I used to listen to Lady Gaga on my iPod all the time, which also made my walks really fierce, but I lost it a few months ago. :(

Haha, I thought that "Americano" was too much like "Alejandro" too! Except the latter is a much better song. I did buy the extended version of the album on iTunes with the remixes, but I haven't listened to them much yet.
