it screws me up to think that you're the norm

I bought the Freaks and Geeks complete series dvd on thursday, and so far I've watched 8 episodes. Such a wonderful show <3

My aunt came to visit again, but shortly after she got here I left to go to the Big Easy. There was hardly anyone there, which was very disappointing. I was expecting the place to be packed. (because the Dismemberment Plan was one of the greatest bands to ever exist, right?? wouldn't everyone flock to go see an ex D-plan dude?) The explanation for this, I have decided, is one of the following: 1) my naivety overrides reality, 2) people are just dumb, 3) both 1 & 2.

Anyhow, the Bloodythirsty Lovers played an enjoyable opening set. They reminded me a little of Ryan Adams' not-too-mellow stuff. Only a few songs caught my attention, but none of them bored me.

Travis Morrison and his band however, put on quite an impressive set. I was very impressed, at least. The songs were a lot dancey-er live than on the cd, and they (especially Travis Morrison) looked all happy dancing and playing music.

Not only is his voice wonderful, but he is so adorable and kinda short and he shouts "yeah!" a lot in the middle of songs and he said "thank you" in a really happy tone after every song. His band was really cool, especially the girl playing keyboard who was fun to watch. Oh, and they covered Janet Jackson...but not the much talked about Ludacris song.

As Fast As walked in when they had 2 or 3 songs left. Haché came over and said hello, and that was about it.

I felt compelled to buy "Travistan" even though I have a promo copy, and I had Travis sign it. He is fucking cool. It really sucks that people didn't show up. Actually, it pisses me off. He said that it was like that the past few times he's played around here too :( I didn't say what first popped into my head, which was basically that a lot of the people that go to the shows tend to only go see the bands that never come up with anything that sounds new and/or original. But that would have been a bad thing to say, I think. So I suggested maybe trying an all ages show next time (there bettterrr be a next time!), and he was like "wait, this wasn't all ages?" as a "WTF?!" look crossed his face. Yeah. That's my story.

People need to stop liking crappy bands and go see Travis Morrison instead.

hmm. On a slightly different topic, I think this is one of my favorite rock 'n roll pictures ever:

annnd it looks like Retrosexual is being re-release!!?

I think I need to watch one more episode of Freaks and Geeks before I go to sleep. I don't know why I want to watch it all as fast as I can when I own the dvds so that theoretically I can watch whatever one I want whenever I want.

err...or maybe I should just go to bed so that I am not yawning the whole time I work tomorrow and perhaps I might make a little more sense.
