I'm going to miss working with Steve so much.
about a week ago, he went through rock/pop and pulled an alphabetical list of artists/albums that I must hear:
Aerosmith: self titled
Beastie Boys: "Ill Communication"
Captain Beefheart: "Trout Mask Replica"
Bob Dylan: "The Times They Are A-Changin"
Eagles of Death Metal: "Peace Love Death Metal"
Fleetwood Mac: "Tusk"
J. Geils Band: "Blow Your Face Out"
Jimi Hendrix: "Axis: Bold As Love"
Iron Butterfly: "In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida"
Jethro Tull: "Aqualung"
King Crimson: "In the Court of the Crimson King"
John Lennon: "Imagine"
Mountain: "Climbing"
New Riders of the Purple Sage: "Adventures of Panama Red"
Ozzy Osbourne: "Just Say Ozzy"
Iggy & the Stooges: "Raw Power"
Queen: "News of the World"
Rolling Stones: "Beggars Banquet"
Cat Stevens: "Tea for the Tillerman"
Talking Heads: "Talking Heads '77"
Uriah Heep: "Live 1973"
Velvet Underground: "Velvet Underground and Nico"
The Who: "Who's Next"
X: "Los Angeles"
Neil Young & Crazy Horse: "Rust Never Sleeps"
Warren Zevon: "Excitable Boy"
and he explained why each one was essential. I can only really cross off the Beastie Boys and Queen selections, although I've heard a few others (mostly because they've been played in the store a lot), but I haven't really listened to them.
Work will surely be less interesting, in a Sharkboy kind of way. His final pick was "Take This Job and Shove It" by the Dead Kennedys :)
