How come?

Books have sequels. Movies have sequels. Video games have sequels.

How come songs don't have sequels? Now, if you don't include remix's, reprises, or alternate versions, I can't really think of any. Except, that is, David Bowie's Space Oddity which has two sequels; one by Peter Schilling (Major Tom) and another by Bowie (Ashes to Ashes). ( Read more... )

All's I can say is:

Suicidal Tendencies, The Damned, Slipknot and.. ummm.. ok. thas all I can think of right now. I can't think of the songs, but I know they did sequals. I remember seeing the "parts 1 & 2" on the album sleeves. Oo! And, didn't Guns and Roses do some?

yup, the trilogy: november rain, don't cry, estranged.

slipknot: vermillion 1&2

Tool: wings for marie; 10,000 days (wings pt.2)
also: parabol, parabola; although we tool diehards kinda consider them as one.

A perfect circle: pet; counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums.

Yeah yeah! And I think The Damned was "Smash it Up 1&2". But #2 might have just been an extended version.

Oh, and I just thought of a random one. DMX had a song called "Damien" and did a "Damien part 2" or something on the next album.

In a sense, every Coheed and Cambria song is a sequel. They sing songs about people named Coheed and Cambria and even have a comic book about them... For whatever that emo crap is worth.

Also, classical music and opera frequently does the sequel thing. There's others, I'll think of them and kick myself later for not including them.
