Maryani actually thinks she likes Jiroch better than Umanthum. Martel's only a minute or so behind her--he'd been speaking with someone when he caught sight of her going up, and didn't wait long to follow.

He does look, more than he lets on, but when he closes the door behind himself it's not her state of dress he's preoccupied with so much as the state of her. "Where were you?"

Her hair is already coming unpinned, being too long and much too curly for it to stay up for any period of time after physical exertion. She pushes it away from her face as she kicks off her boots and glances Martel's way.

"I had a--" Here her lips curve up slightly, but it's not a nice smile. "--social engagement. Of sorts. Where were you?"

Because they're in denial seems to be the most commonly cited reason.

"Only when I end up killing them." Matter-of-factly! She presents herself to him--it can't be called anything else, the way she throws her shoulders back and (frankly speaking) pushes her chest out, blood on the bodice and all.
