Being summoned to meet the queen of Elenia is ordinarily quite a stressful circumstance, especially when you're rather personally connected to the man who betrayed the Pandion Order years ago. Regardless, Maryani doesn't show any sign of nerves--on the contrary, she seems cheerful about it. It's hard to tell what she thinks if she's attempting to obscure herself, of course. One of those little things she's picked up, much like her penchant for casual violence.
"Sir Sparhawk doesn't seem to want us to attend," she murmurs, as they cross the threshold to the sitting room where Queen Ehlana intends for them to meet, "I can't say I'm all that surprised, if what I've heard is true."
Meanwhile, Maryani's taken to dressing as she always has: simple long white shifts, not a whole lot else to her apparel. Some people disapprove! It entertains her, much like asking Sir Bevier approximately eight thousand philosophical questions and listening to his answers with her most ingratiatingly doe-eyed expression (he can never tell whether she's seriously interested in religion or flirting, and honestly it's a little of both), and, naturally: harassing Martel. Maryani has many pursuits, all right?
Nourelle isn't accompanying them, largely because it would be awkward, and also because Maryani doesn't want to see how quickly her daughter picks up politics. (It's pretty much inevitable. Thirteen-year-old girls are like that.)
