Just copying my Project: Comatose post into this post, because it was crowding my LJ and bugging me: "This is a bit like the Suju 100 Fics Challenge (which I have decided not to do), actually, because I am giving myself certain prompts and a certain number of little one-shots to write. This is not like the Suju 100 Fics Challenge, though, because it is only forcing me to write 11 fics, not 100 (which is too beastly of a number for me to even attempt to challenge) and I get to choose the pairings myself.
Basically, this spawned off of a car ride to and from the mall, in which I was listening to the only radio station I listen to (Christian Alternative music), and one Skillet song ("The Older I Get") was played on the way to the mall, while another Skiller song ("Those Nights") was played on the way back. It's very rare that I feel this certain visceral connection to a song, especially now when I'm listening to mostly Korean music, but it hit me, hard, and I felt empty for the rest of the day. It was an unsettling emptiness, but not altogether frightening.
Friendly, almost.
And so I decided to write a fic for every song on Skillet's amazing "Comatose" album.
Skillet is probably my number one Christian band of all time, and it is a pretty epic feat to get four songs onto my top 20 played list (though there's only one now - Suju's taking over), and "Comatose" is one of my favorite non-progmetal albums ever. Each song's lyrics are so incredibly heart-wrenching, and I can only hope to do the album almost justice, because there's no way I can write up to that standard.
Yesterday, I listened to the whole album in depth about three times, and as I did, I tried to think of which pairings I'd like to write for each song, and I ended up with five of my favorite pairings, and each one two times (with the exception of Kangteuk, which appeared three times).
The last Kangteuk one is probably the only one that won't follow the lyrics totally, because the lyrics are about society, and fanfic just does not work with a song like that.
I have no idea when I'm going to start, only that it'll probably be either when I'm halfway through with SandStar, or when I'm done. (Though the latter doesn't seem like it will be happening anytime soon.)
Here is the tracklisting, and my anticipated pairings:
1) Rebirthing - Hanchul
2) The Last Night - Kangteuk
3) Yours To Hold - Yewook
4) Better Than Drugs - Hanchul
5) Comatose - Kyumin
6) The Older I Get - Kihae
7) Those Nights - Kangteuk
8) Falling Inside The Black - Kihae
9) Say Goodbye - Kyumin
10) Whispers In The Dark - Yewook
11) Looking For Angels - Kangteuk"
