Ah, the monster is done.
So as you might have noticed by some of my fics got put up here and also, banners, and more editing energy poured into after the fact (I've retooled Fools countless times), I'm a little more partial to some than others. I don't really want to let go of them and I get really excited when I get a review on those ones, while others I've become more distanced from with time or just not as invested in. On in a big way, Fools & Thrice especially are the fanfics I've proudest of, partly because they're complete and compact, but also since they have plot- they're honest-to-goodness finished stories, and for one I don't finish a lot and the other, a lot of what I've managed to actually post/'publish' on fanfiction is more drabble/scene-like- just a piece of something bigger in my head. Thrice & Fools are just- done.
Sort of as a way of continuing/completing the picture in my head for those stories, partly to reach a bigger audience, and a lot for fun, especially as ever since I took a Film History course I've found the idea of editing scenes together really compelling and been teaching myself to do so, I've made Harry Potter fanvids to line up with both Fools and Thrice.
The Fools vid I finished quite a while back now, an equally long time after I wrote it but upon discovering the Boondock Saints and thinking they were perfect for my Prewett brothers at the same time I heard the Killers' acoustic version of "All These Things That I've Done," which for me, just fit It's built up a surprisingly good response, and actually brought me a couple wonderful reviewers who come back for every Harry Potter fic I've written since, which made me feel terrific. It's a little raw, but actually I kinda like that about it. And my sister really likes it, which means a lot to me. I was pretty pleased:
Back when I finished Thrice, then (in what, late June, July? I'd have to check, but around then), I decided I wanted to do the same thing. Since I'd been listening obsessively to Coldplay's new songs while writing it, especially Violet Hill, I figured one of them, but it wasn't until I heard "Death and All His Friends" that I wanted to do that. Slowly, I found clips I could use for James, Lily, put in five minutes here and there but it was only in making a push to get this one last little thing out of the way before November and actually putting sometime in it that I got this:
I'm so ridiculously thrilled at how it turned out. ;D
