Part Two

I havent yet talked about my actual education here at MUN. So far my classes have been nothing but enjoyable. Theory is starting to get interesting, we've started to look at the Schenker approach to tertian harmony, analyzing the tonal framework of Bach Chorales. It's really a fascinating approach to how music works, it's so much more interesting ( Read more... )

I'm jealous of MUN life. Windsor is drunk, all right, but not in such a familial, organized and fun way. :P

Plus...no music class. Although we may be getting a recreational choir and concert band.

It sounds like you ended up landing in the perfect place for you. I'm happy for you...and lots of hugs, and such. Are you going home over Christmas?

Yes, I'm going home for Christmas, I think my mom would KILL me if I didn't.. She's having a hard enough time dealing with me staying not going home for Thanksgiving (which would be pointless, as we don't get a reading week). My last exam is Dec 15, so I'll probably be in Toronto on the 16th and home either that day or the end of the weekend (if I end up staying a few days at my aunt's).

Definitely look into things musical.. its such a stress reliever - especially choir (which surprised me, lol), even if they are for credit.. Are there any musical people in your house around for jamming? Here every person and their dog brought a guitar or bass and amp, and there are like at least three drumkits jammed into people's res rooms (and when I say jammed, I mean it: our rooms are tiny).

Maybe we can coerce some kind of get-together into existence over the Christmas break...I'm probably coming back on the 21st, as my last exam is on the 20th.

I'm looking into finding some people to jam with, although it hasn't been too easy so far; something I noticed immediately about Windsor is that everyone crams automatically into their social cliques based on god knows what and it's hard to find one's place. However, I figure once I make some friends working on the Arts Council, I might start feeling less awkward.

Our rooms in Cartier are shared, but huge in their own way...if you talked to your roommate about it, you could rearrange your bed and desk so that a drumkit would be pretty workable.

We definitely should have a music room reunion or something over the Christmas break, I'm in town for three weeks so it shouldn't be too difficult to arrange something ( ... )
