A lot of these questions were ones that my brother had. Did he want to teach or go into research or something. He was lucky enough to land a job at the math lab and has gotten some teaching exposure. He's even subbed a few classes so far. Having a job before you get a teaching certificate is a really good idea and I know he's enjoyed it.

I really, really admire how you acknowledge exploration. With all the pressure on having to find something to do, it tends to be overlooked.

Maybe all of my predictions will start coming true now...

But seriously, I think that if you end up wanting to do it, you'll be a fantastic teacher. (You can totally carry on in the crazy tradition of the history teachers of ETHS.) Luckily, there are a lot of programs where you can explore it without making a scary-intense commitment until you know it's right for you.

I think it's great that you're giving yourself time to think- although, for what it's worth, I was reading this and thinking "Dang! I wish I had APUSH as-taught-by Ms. Koroski!" ;]
Don't worry about the 'blank stare' class. With classes like that, it's the (lack of) chemistry between the kids themselves- for whatever reason, they don't want to share and participate around each other.
(...um, from my high school senior perspective...)
