I completely agree with your statement that you need money and connections. For me, as a Hispanic, it was always the old "Minorities can excel, too!" schpiel (is that how you spell it?) and then when I applied for minority-oriented scholarships, they all rejected me because I had "exceeded the allowable credit limit." Apparently Mexicans are only supposed to take a certain number of classes...and here I am with an AA before turning 20. There went my chance. I grew up with people assuming that because I'm female and non-white, the world is going to throw gobs of money at me to continue with my education. Now if you know of anyone who is giving out free money, send them my way; that would be great.

School, very much like the entertainment world, is not entirely about talent or dedication. It's about what you can afford and who you know.
