Telephone calls were no substitute for seeing someone in person. And while Hinata was aware that she'd racked up some truly ungodly phone bills in the last week, that was nothing more than small change.

The portal was not much more than that. Her largest concern in managing the visit, Yei, had been taken care of by Warren. He'd agreed to take her for the night. Hinata made a note that she owed him and moved on.

When she was ushered in to see Hayley, it was not exactly the quiet, shy girl she normally was who faced her. It was the calm, still quiet, but absolutely competent heiress.

[Yei foisted off on Warren with permission omigod.]

"You're welcome," she said, taking a seat with a squeak of the chair. "But I will not have you attempt to pay me back, do you understand? I do this because you're a friend."

And friendships paid for themselves.

"I don't know if I could ever really pay you back," Hayley said, folding her hands in her lap so she didn't try to reach out to her friend. She didn't want to get in trouble. "This means so much even beyond just the money it costs."
