Before the court officially began, Karla tried to catch Hayley's eye and offer her a wave. The Fandom contingent had arrived and was on her side.

How did one say, 'We know you're innocent and as soon as that's proven, we're taking you home with us?' Karla wasn't entirely sure, but she was hoping that some of that came across in her smile anyway.

The first day had gone about as well as could be hoped. Tomorrow would be more difficult, but Alex felt sure she was making some inroads with the jury.

She listened to the judge dismiss the jury for the day and breathed a sigh of relief. And now, to make sure her client was still in one piece.

She smiled at the visitors, recognizing some of Fandom's students in the crowd. The moral support was a nice touch.
