I'm a weak person in this world
without knowing what will happen tomorrow

You saw him for the first time at the crowded cafeteria in your new school. It was your first day as a new student when you saw the boy sit alone at the corner. You were sitting at one of the table and were laughing at something funny from your new friend, when your eyes caught the figure of lone boy. There was something inside him that intrigued you to no end.

You found that his name was Kim Junsu. He was from class A, different from your class. Your friend, Jaejoong, told you that he was a loner, always refused the offering from his friends to hang out together in a little basketball match. You decided to know more about him. You approached him one day, when he was sitting alone at the cafeteria, looking outside at the yard. You noticed that the day was beautiful with clear autumn blue sky. You called his name, making him turn his head toward your direction. He looked to you with his almond shaped eyes, presenting an unreadable expression inside the orbs.

“Hi… my name is Park Yoochun, can we be a friend?”

He looked taken a back at your words, but he still nodded nonetheless.

“Junsu~” You called him with sing a song voice when you entered his room. You had become friends with him for two years in high school and graduation was coming closer. Those days of friendship passed happily, as you became his only best friend.

You looked at him. He was sitting in his bed, looking pale and tired. You felt your heart hurt at the fragileness inside his eyes. Your friend was a good person, however he had almost no friend because of his condition. Junsu had a weak body, it was the thing that made him couldn’t play soccer, the game he liked so much. He couldn’t go out, hanging out happily because he would feel pain at the night if he got too tired.

He smiled when he looked at you. You sat beside his bed, holding his cold hand and smiled back despite your pained heart.

“Are you okay?” You asked him. He answered you with a laugh.

“I’m okay. I’m just too tired yesterday…”

“You shouldn’t see my basketball match. “

“It’s okay, Yoochun. I want to… How is the school today?”

“Heaven without you…” You told him, grinning mischievously. He slapped your hand. You laughed at the sulking expression in his face.

“Okay… Boring like always, because I don’t have a partner for passing notes at the class,” You told him. You went into the same class with him in your senior year. You remembered the first time you see him, time surely flied so fast.

“Liar, you have Jaejoong to do it with you…”

“He is too busy staring at Yunho…”

Junsu laughed again at your words. You looked at the pure joy radiated from his pale face. You swore you would protect the happiness inside his skinny fragile body.

“Prom is coming near… Have you asked someone to go with you?” Jaejoong whispered to you, he put his feet in his table, yawning like a cat. You furrowed your eyebrows at his action.

“Nope… Whom will you go with?”

“Guess who…” He smirked as he looked to your face.

“Oh my God… You’ll go with Jung Yunho, won’t you?” You told him in disbelief when realization dawned into your brain. You shook your head when your friend’s face decorated with sweet grin.

“How did you do that?”

“He asked me… I can’t believe myself… I guess I’m right. I’m way too beautiful until everyone want a piece of my awesomeness.”

“You are nothing but a sick narcissistic whore… I don’t want a piece of you, it’s disgusting.”

“At least, someone namely Yunho wants it, and of course you don’t want it. You only have an eye to a certain cute friend of yours namely Junsu.”

“What? He is your friend too, Jae Jae. Moreover, for your information, I am straight.”

“Straight as a broken arrow. Please, you must look at yourself when you are looking at him. “

“Am not…”

“Whatever, just wait until you realize it. By the way, do you think he will go to prom?”

You sighed at his question, looking at the empty bench beside you. He didn’t go to school again that day. His condition was worsened these days. You would always go to his house after school to visit him, only to be greeted with pale face and tired eyes. Junsu had fever and couldn’t eat without throw up. Sorrow filled your heart when you remembered his empty eyes, refusing to meet your orbs.

“I don’t know…”

“I hope he get better soon, it’s boring without him here. In addition, I’m sick to see your longing face without him…”

***

“You should ask someone for the prom…” He told you, looking at the window, not meeting your eyes. Like always, you visited him again after school.

“I don’t know whom I should ask…”

“How about Yoona? She has an eyes on you since the beginning of senior years.”

“Really? I don’t know…”

“You are just too ignorant to see it. She is a sweet girl.”

“And you, whom will you go with?” you asked him. Your stomach suddenly churned when you imagined he go with someone else, holding her hand.

“Are you stupid? Do you think I can go to the prom with this condition? “ He asked you with dry and hoarse voice, bleeding your heart. You looked at his condition and couldn’t help but feeling your heart ached together with his body.

“If you don’t go, I won’t go either…”

Junsu turned his head at your words, looking surprise at the meaning inside it. He laughed, hollow and dark, unlike his usual warm and tingling one. You cringed at the sound.

“You are funny, Yoochun-ah,” He told you, disbelief written clearly in his eyes.

“I’m serious…” You stared piercingly at his face, showing him that you weren’t making a joke.

“You must go!”

“I don’t want…”

His cold façade crumpled as his face turned into desperation. Hopeless expression tinted his pale but beauty complexion. It slowly changed into a sorrowful helpless one.

“If you don’t go, I won’t go… I’ll stay with you…”

“But Yoochun… “

“Listen to me, Junsu…”

“You are the one who need to listen to me… All of this time, I become a burden to you. You don’t have time for your other times, because you always come home with me. I don’t want you stay here with me at prom.”

“You are not a burden to me…”

“But I am, Yoochun-ah… This weak body is a burden. I never want it.” His eyes dimmed, his soul swam inside the pool of sorrow. His condition obviously wasn’t something that he wanted from the beginning.

“As a child, I never played outside because I would get sick at the end. I couldn’t play soccer like I dreamt for. There are so many things that I can’t do even I want it so bad. However, you have the chance to do it, so you must do it. “

You hugged your best friend tightly, mourning with him together for his fate. The warm liquid fell from his eyes as he hugged you back, breaking down at his hidden sadness that he held for long time.

“It’s not your fault to have this condition…” You told him, patting his back as he buried his face in your chest, sobbing endlessly. “And you are never a burden to me, Su… You are my bestie…”

You knew he was smiling despite the sound of sobs from his throat.

“You better go…” He whimpered, “So someone can tell me how the prom is…”

Yoona was sweet and fun. Both of you had a wonderful night at the prom, but your mind was wondering again and again to certain boy at his room. you smiled at Yoona for the last time and bid her goodbye.

“Yoochun-sshi…” She called your name when you walked back to your father’s car, making you stop and turned back to face her.

“I… I like you… I hope we can go out together again…” She told Yoochun, her cheeks blushed as she said the words. You opened your mouth only to close it again, not knowing what to say.

“I… I’m sorry, Yoona but I don’t know…”

“It’s okay, I know this is so sudden. I mean we only go out once for prom. However, I hope you will consider my feeling.”

Yoochun smiled at her. Yoona was a good girl, but you really didn’t know whether you would go out with her or not.

“I will think about it,” you smiled to her as she smiled back sweetly.

“Good night… Yoochun-sshi…”

“Goodnight…”

You drove your father’s car away from her house. The street was becoming blur light of red, blue, and green in your eyes. Without knowing it, you suddenly had already stood in front of his house, looking at the window of his room. It was dark, making you wonder whether he had already slept or not.

You took your cell phone and dialed his number. You heard the waiting tones from the other line before his voice floated in your ears.

“Hello…” His voice was small and hoarse. You couldn’t help but worry.

“Junsu… How are you? Are you okay?”

“I… I’m not okay, Yoochun-ah…”

It was the only thing that you needed to climb out his house, entering his room from his window. You looked at the dark room, spotting him in his bed. He was closing his eyes while sweat ran in his forehead and pained expression grazed his face.

“Junsu… “ You called him. His eyelashes fluttered open, revealing the orbs of sorrow and fragileness.

“Yoochun-ah…”

You walked to him, putting your hand at his forehead. He had a fever.

“Junsu, you are burning. Where are your parents?”

“They were here moments ago, leaving me for a rest.”

“Have you seen a doctor?”

He nodded at your question.

“He said that if I don’t get better tomorrow, I must stay at the hospital,” He told you. His orbs slowly filled with fear.

“I’m scared, Yoochun-ah… “

“It will be okay.” You told him as you hugged him, feeling the warmth from his feverish body. You kissed his forehead, assuring him that it would be okay for sure.

“I don’t want to be like this… It’s enough. I want to die, Yoochun-ah… I want to close my eyes and never open it again. “

“Don’t say that…” You shushed him, shivering at the though if what he said became real. You couldn’t imagine your life with his sweet smile.

“This is so hard… I can’t bear it anymore.”

“You can do it, Su… “

“No, Yoochun… You don’t know how it feels. How he feeling to be trapped inside your room is. You won’t ever know, to have this dream, to see the whole world but you can’t.”

“You want to see the world?”

He nodded, tears streamed in his cheeks.

“You told me about your holiday with your family. I can’t help but want it, to see the world beside my room and my school. Feeling the sensation to be in other place beside my bed. I want it but I know that I can’t do it. It’s hurt…”

“No, Junsu, believe me. You can do it…”

“I hope that God would just let me die… “

“Don’t say that kind of words, Su… You don’t know what I will feel if I lose you.”

“I’m only a burden to you and to my parents…”

“I told you, you aren’t. “ You broke the hug to look at his tears filled eyes, feeling your heart crushed at the sight. Realization hit you as you wanted him to be happy and not being like this. The feeling overflowed your brain as you came closer to his face, staring at the red lips in front of you.

Your mind was blank, feeling by nothing but him. You sensed nothing but him, and see nothing but him. His lips were soft and you wondered why you didn’t realize it sooner. You didn’t know why you didn’t know about your feeling before. You felt he was melting inside your arm, making you hold him tighter inside your embrace. You kissed him with his sadness deeply. Even a beautiful and sweet girl like Yoona couldn’t give you a feeling like this.

When you parted for air, you saw his eyelashes fluttered open. You lifted up his chin, making him look at you.

“Su… I love you. I’m wondering myself for not realizing it sooner. I promise you, despite of your condition, I’ll make your dream come true. Maybe I can’t take away your condition, but at least I can show you the world you want. “

He stayed silence, staring deeply at your eyes, searching for something inside your eyes. You sensed his uncertainty.

“It’s true, Su… I’ll show you the world you always dream for…” You told him with whole of your heart as you leaned closer to kiss him again, sealing your promise on sweet lips of his.

Junsu was looking at the photographs on the table. Pictures from Eiffel tower to the great wall China were scattered on his laps. He whistled happily at he looked closer to the photographs, smiling at every color that caught inside it.

Not too long after, the sound of the opening door was heard, revealing his husband with packed luggage with bags of cameras and lenses in his hands. Behind him, there was his assistant, holding tripods and other photographic tools.

“Susu-ah, I’m home…” He shouted, making Junsu stand up abruptly and run to him. He hugged his husband despite both of his hands were still filled with stuffs.

“Chunnie…”

“Don’t run like that…” He told his wife as he motioned his assistant to put the tools and his stuffs to the living room.

“Leave them there, Min… Oh, and please take the photo albums at the car for me…”

“How is Canada?” Junsu asked is husband excitedly as he dragged the man to sit on the sofa at the living room.

“Beautiful…” He kissed his wife before he stood up, walking to their bathroom.

“I need to use the bathroom…” He told his wife as Junsu nodded.

“Yoochun, This is the photo album… Oh, hi, Junsu-sshi…” His husband’s assistant greeted him as he looked that his boss wasn’t there at the
living room. Junsu smiled at the tall man.

“Let me see it…” Junsu told him, motioning the man to sit beside him. Changmin complied and sat beside him, opening the photo album for them to see.

“It’s beautiful…” Junsu whispered, looking at the pictures inside it. His fingers grazed longingly toward the photos, appreciating every moment that was kept.

“Yes, it is. Your husband is a real top photographer, Junsu-sshi…”

Junsu smiled at the words from Changmin, feeling proud at Yoochun’s achievement. The man had worked hard to become a top famous world photographer, traveling around the world to snap its beauty. Junsu knew one of the obvious reason for him become a photographer. He knew that Yoochun wanted to keep his promise. Yoochun wanted to show Junsu the world despite of his weakness that preventing him to do it. He wanted to fulfill Junsu's dream through his lenses and pictures.

“How is your condition, Junsu-sshi?” Changmin asked him.

Junsu smiled knowingly. Yoochun probably had told his assistant about his condition.

“It’s better now, sometimes I’m dizzy in the morning. However, I’m so much better than in my high school years,” Junsu answered with a smile, eyes reflected an obvious happiness. He was getting better, but still couldn’t get too tired. He knew his body was getting stronger as the time went by. He remembered about his difficulties in the past, especially at his high school. It was the worst. He smiled at the old memories of his desperate state before, when exam was coming near and he couldn’t go to school. Lucky for him, he could make it through.

“I’m sorry, Junsu-sshi. I know it’s hard for you. “

“Yes, it was. But it isn’t.”

Changmin smiled at the answer from him. He knew for sure that Junsu was a strong person inside the weak fragile body.

“Yoochun-sshi travels a lot, I really hope someday you’ll come with us. Yoochun-sshi told me that you want to see the world.”

Junsu smiled. He looked at the photo albums inside the cupboard. He remembered all the time Yoochun went home from a trip. His husband would give him the pictures of the place he went and told him the detail stories about the place each night while holding him tight, whispering fairytales in his ears.

He looked to Yoochun, who had just walked out from the bathroom. His eyes lightened up happily at the sight of his wife and the photo albums on his laps. Junsu turned his head to see Changmin.

“I will go with you someday, Changmin-sshi… However, for now, it’s enough for me. I have seen the world I dream inside him, like he promised me when we were younger…”

Changmin looked at the couple that was embracing each other in front of him. He was confused at Junsu’s words, not knowing what the man was trying to tell him. However to see the happy sight in front of him, he couldn’t help but smile and hope for their happiness forever.
