She'd been in the living room at the time, sprawled out on the couch, legs propped up on one of the couch arms. Mum was out with Pete, apparently he'd taken her to Spain for the holidays. God only knew where Jake was, probably picking up desperate single girls at a pub somewhere. She'd bought herself a cheap box of chocolates, and was currently eating half of each one, to see which were good and which tasted like tooth paste.

At the sound of wheezing engines, her head cocked to the side and her brow furrowed.

A second later, her head poked out the door to gaze across the lawn.

He'd quite deliberately casually not bothered to go knocking at the door yet. Instead, he'd been studying his TARDIS and waiting for an answer the ship refused to provide.

Really, honestly, Valentine's Day. Not...that he didn't want an excuse to take Rose out somewhere after the Cascade thing. He did. This was a perfect excuse. He just...wasn't sure yet about whether she'd take the gesture the wrong way.

He could carry on denying what may or may not be implied by his presence on this of all holidays, but it isn't going to stop her from striding over to the TARDIS doors. She gave the old girl a stroke on one side, before rounding the corner and knocking firmly on the door.

When he answered, her arms would be crossed and her face would be a quaint mix of smug and amused.

He saw her on the monitor outside--well she always had brilliant timing, didn't she? So...he already knew she was going to knock.

But he still presented the benefit of mild surprise when he opened the door. "Rose! Hello."
