Sam felt like he could barely breathe by the time he got to the apartment, no sure if Dana would be there or at work. He usually kept up with her schedule but he had too much else going on in his head right now. He raked a hand through his hair and slammed the door shut behind himself. "Dana ( Read more... )

Sam had seemed much too reluctant to go out that day, considering all that had happened to them over the weekend. But he had to go to school and Dana had to go back to work. They couldn't hide in their apartment forever.

She'd done her best to reassure him before he left, putting up a good front for her own worries. Dana didn't like to see him so worked up, stressed.

Work in itself had been normal at best, though Dana's eyes perhaps a bit more sharp for any familiar faces or suspicious looking people. But no, nothing eventful had happened that day other than getting a beer spilled on her.

Which was why she was just getting out of the shower when she heard the front door slam and her brother's panicked voice. Concern immediately washed through her and she was quick to grab a towel and wrap it tight about her as she went out to meet him.

"Sam? What--" She paused, taking in his features. It was always incredibly easy for her to read him, and right now, the look on his face made something clench deep in her stomach. "What's wrong?"

He felt sick and a million different thoughts were going through his head. Mostly how he'd messed up, how he hadn't been careful enough... how he should have known better maybe. This couldn't last. How could it? Not when he was messing around with Dana... people would get suspicious eventually. He just had banked on people not jumping to the right conclusion so soon, is all.

He didn't figure someone would set a fucking trap for them.

"Someone knows about us, Dana." He didn't know how else to say it. He looked at her, expression twisting up in worry and fuck-- how were they supposed to deal with this?

"This girl... this girl I hang out with, she's the one who did the spell. It was a damn trap, Dana."

No, Dana didn't like the look on his face at all. It immediately set her edge, wary of whatever it was he may say.

"What--" She blinked, baffled. "A trap? Who is this chick? What are you talking about Sam?" Who did Sam know who could set up a trap like this, let alone know to in the first place? And he wanted to accuse her of knowing someone who did this to them.

"She's in my class, Dana... she's been a friend for awhile and I-- I didn't know, okay?" He had absolutely no idea that there was anything off about her. She'd hidden it well. He should have known.

"I guess she got suspicious and she wanted to be sure, so she... put that stupid damn spell on us. It was supposed to fade in a week, if we didn't do anything. She saw you leaving the apartment, she knows it couldn't have been anyone else." He didn't know what to do here.

"She's asked me out a couple times... I didn't tell you about it. I didn't think it was important." He hadn't been interested and he was sure Dana didn't tell him about all the numbers she probably got at work.
