WHERE: Kristoph Gavin's super-swank house
WHEN: The afternoon of
this exchange.
She was normally annoyed when she got caught in the act. Causing trouble, doing something she shouldn't be- There was that thrill of the possibility that she could be caught, but when it actually happened it lost all glamour. This was not her usual reaction to getting in trouble, however. Sulking, pouting, slamming dishes around as she baked something to try to improve her mood; that was normal. Creeping around the kitchen of the empty house like a nervous cat was not, and she wasn't sure what to make of it.
Rhode made herself some tea before starting to heat the water for Kris's, pouring in an ungodly amount of sugar into her cup straight from the bowl and letting it turn into a sticky mess before drinking it. Sweets were good for improving her mood, normally, but it only made her edgier. By the time she'd covered up the burning hot tea to brew while staying warm, she was fidgeting, glancing at the clock nervously. He'd be home soon. How was she going to get out of this? He knew she was lying, but she couldn't tell him. She'd managed to keep it silent for this long. If he knew how long... She didn't want to think about how much trouble she was in.
Rhode left the tea sitting on the table of the living room, making sure it would stay warm for at least a quarter of an hour before pacing her way to the library. Sitting and not reading the open book in her lap, she listened for the door. Tried to think of some excuse before he came home. Found absolutely nothing.
It was so easy to lie to everyone else. Why did it have to be any different for Kris?
