Kurtzman, Orci and Lindelof gave a talk at the LA Hero Complex Film Festival, and
Collider has an interview with them (here's a link to the
audio interview). Highlights include:
- The characters in the sequel will have been through a couple adventures together and be more familiar with each other, but still getting to know each other and building relationships
- Getting Leonard Nimoy for ST:XI was a bit like recruiting James Bond
- Horta shout-out!
- The sequel will NOT be a remake of "Spock's Brain"
- No mirror universe for the sequel (we're already in one, technically)
- Kirk and Spock's relationship is a romantic comedy. Quoth Lindelof (and my unending squee):
"This first movie is just a love story between Spock and Kirk. It has all the beats of a romantic comedy where they meet, they don't get along, they totally hate each other, and then they get into a situation where they kind of need each other, and by the end Spock walks onto the bridge and he's like, 'Let's fuck!'"
- Lindelof says he does pay attention to message board/internet conversations about Trek, Orci says he "takes it all in" with regards to web discussion about Trek
Not a whole lot of new stuff, but thought you guys might be interested nonetheless. :)
