Canadian actress and director Sarah Polley removed her name from her new short film after learning it would promote Becel margarine.

Canadian actress and director Sarah Polley has proven she’s one of the most promising up and coming talents in Hollywood. She’s also proven to be one of the most honest filmmakers. Times & Transcript reports that the indie star has removed her name from her latest short film that will be airing in a commercial break during the Academy Awards this Sunday.

Titled The Heart, Sarah Polley’s film is dedicated to the promotion of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The actress/director became upset when she found out that the film would also promote Becel margarine. Polley was unaware that Becel’s sponsorship of the foundation would mean that her film would also act as a promoter.

Polley received critical praise when she wrote and directed 2006’s Away from Her starring acclaimed British actress Julie Christie. She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay and Christie received a nomination for Best Actress.

Polley recently announced that her next directorial turn will be Take This Waltz starring Michelle Williams and Seth Rogan.
