Rachel McAdams is in talks to star in horror movie We Have Always Lived in the Castle. The 31-year-old actress is set to play the lead in the film, which is based on the 1962 novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson. The book tells the tale of the Blackwood family, an eccentric group who live an isolated life following the death of family members from poisoning.

Also rumoured to be starring in the film is Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan, however, a director is not yet on board.

Rachel has previously played the lead in a horror movie, portraying Lisa Reisert in 2005's Red Eye. Last year was a breakthrough one for Rachel, who had starring roles in State of Play, The Time Traveler's Wife and Sherlock Holmes. This year she stars in comedy movie Morning Glory alongside Harrison Ford and Patrick Wilson, while in 2011 she is rumoured to be taking a role in Woody Allen's next project with Marion Cotillard and Owen Wilson.
