Mehmet Scholl (who's been doing commentary on the ARD TV station) prematurely left the Confed Cup, even though he would still have had to commentate two games.
ARD had been planning to show a report on Russian doping, and Scholl considered that "boring" and preferred to talk about the German team.
He's on record in the past saying that "doping in football wouldn't accomplish anything" (that's the old line, isn't it?).
ARD and Scholl are both playing down the conflict now.
I had been wondering why Thomas Hitzlsperger suddenly popped up in my TV.
It's complete BS to say that doping does not do anything in football. You wouldn't need exercises without the ball or fitness training if that was the case.
He has, very openly. A lot of people like to act like it's his excuse for so many injuries at Arsenal but this is a man who lost a league title because of match-fixing so I'm quite sure he just wants the sport to be clean. I wonder if he's encountered his own players doping.

I think Wenger has been going on about how there are suspicious goings-on in certain teams for years.
