Legend of Korra: "The Favorite Child"

First of all, I think it is incredibly unlikely Aang would consciously play favorites in such a manner that it impacted his kids even decades later. This is all feeling really cliche, especially with the setup in the last ep with the air acolytes not knowing who Kya and Bumi were. It's feeling just too obvious and predictable where they're going with the family tension.

Also I can't see Katara just letting Aang go and do whatever with Tenzin if there wasn't something more to these "vacations". Like another poster said, they might have been training trips that the other two weren't interested in.

I agree with you OP, I don't feel like that gels with Aang's character (esp. with Zuko and his friendship being in the picture; obviously Aang knows how important a family dynamic is)... I honestly didn't like LOK much by the end and I'm really disappointed that the series isn't proving me wrong.

Well, I guess that explains why Kya and Bumi wanted to see "vacation Tenzin"...because they haven't been on vacation with him!

Aw. :( But yeah, Katara trying to make up for Aang's favoritism would make sense. You're probably right about why she looked so upset in the last ep.

mte. I mean, neither had seen great, undrama-free versions of stellar parenting. They had a dead mother and estranged father, plus being a full orphan, and already isolated by being the avatar. And the most fucked up family tree of all to observe ruin everything, the Fire Nation Royal family.
