Hi everyone! *Pops out of lurker-hole*

I wrote a new article concerning Brave recently. It delves into animation/Pixar history in general and has to due with the film's comparatively lukewarm reception.

I know it’s a tad long, but it would up being a cumulation of a lot of things I’ve wanted to say about the animation film industry, so I think you’ ( Read more... )

Interesting points there and pretty true too. I think in the end Brave will definitely fare better than Cars 2 in terms of reviews (though money... eh, Cars is kind of a gold mine because kids love it) at least but then the reaction to Cars 2 was out there. I mean, Cars 2 did have problems no denying it, but I honestly felt it was more like in the early 60%s than anything like the level it got at the time. Cars 2 has the the weakest plot of any of Pixar's films even if it was beautifully shot, and Mater is far from a favourite among adults but kids ADORE him. And kids I think compared to adults are really the main demographic if they ever had to pick just one of them even though it's awesome adults can love Pixar films too and often they try to grab both. it makes me really sad to know that pixar is going to have two movies in a row that are well below their typical average 90%+ reviews. :( but yes they can easily recover, not sure if monsters university will be the movie to do it though... tbh, my gut feeling on that movie is it will shock us with how good it actually is and mark a comeback. i hope.

reviews aren't everything but it wasn't pleasant to wake up to brave tumbling from an 88 to a 64 overnight, definitely. i've been so hyped for this movie for... since it was announced rly, but i feel like the hype somehow died down a lot recently. i dunno. it's strange.
