I'm totally fine with the date change. the cheaper it is (for all involved) the better! it seems like it's coming up really soon anyway.

That's cool! The less expensive route is always the way to go.

Awesome. I'm game for that. Cheaper means more people can get it, means more people can enjoy it. All the good.

hi again - great to hear how things are progressing!

i have a completed fic, but i have a couple of queries/concerns before i submit.

1 - my fic is about 12000 wds, but layout issues make it 30 printed pages, does this make it too long?

2 - it's the first in a planned series - it's a standalone, but still, maybe you want something that has no follow-on?

3 - it is the first work i've ever done in this fandom, and although i feel confident in it, i was wondering if you'd prefer a 'tested brand'. also, if i put it in the zine, that kind of makes it hard for me to gauge public response/feedback about my first attempts in this 'verse. i've been tempted to ask if i can archive it at my site goblok, but you've been specific about preferring no on-line publishing before the zine comes out, so...i'm kind of torn with what to do. but i guess if it came down to it, if you read it and you're happy with it, then i'm happy to put it in ( ... )

1. The length is fine.

2. Here's where you might encounter a problem -- if it is the first in a series, and published in the zine, you can't post it for a year. Then again, I can always make an exception and allow you to post it when you finish the next story in the series.

3. Again, this is up to you. I can allow you to post it a few months after the zine comes out, though I can understand your desire for feedback on your first effort. Would it be possible to share it privately with a few friends or interested parties and go off that feedback?

Sorry it's taken me so long -- I wanted to think things over before responding.

And sweetie, I don't just like that fic, I love it. Really. I'm trying my hand at the same style for my contribution to the zine, and if I'm lucky, I might make it half as good as that story. ;)

thanks for the reply - i'm so glad to hear from you, as i've been hanging out for news!

okay, i'm happy to share the fic privately for a little f'back if you're happy to give me permission to post it in a few months, when i've got the next couple of fics written. that would be great - a perfect compromise, i think. so, if you're ready to go, i'll mail this thing to you,um, tomorrow night...

oh wow! i am full of squee, i had such a fine time writing this piece, and it'll be great to get it out in the open. and i'm chuffed at the compliments - and i'm pretty sure that you'll get something more than half-good out of your efforts...can't wait to read, in fact...

cheers :)

I'm sorry to have left you waiting! If you need to hear something from me asap, please email me directly -- LJ comments get bunched together, and I usually answer them after I go through personal emails. ;)

I'll agree to the compromise. If you mail the piece to me, I can have myself and some others look over it and let you know so you don't have to wait AGAIN for an answer (there's a committee, to make things fair).

:) I mean it, girl. Seriously.
