First Parasol [Video]

[The video shakes slightly as it slowly resolves into the image of a small dark-haired woman in turn-of-the-century clothing frowning sternly
at it.]

I am not accustomed to having my plans inconvenienced.  I had intended to be in Luxor by this evening.  This does not appear to be Luxor.  Or indeed, any part of Egypt I am famliar with.  It seems clear ( Read more... )

Michelangelo, is it? A fine Italian name. Although your accent is clearly of America.

That much is clear. Even one of those foolish giddy girls would notice the clear shift of architecture from the suks of Cairo to something that appears like a poor copy of Graeco-Roman architecture. I am not particularly foolish.

As for these so-called monsters, we shall see. Most monsters are the product of exaggeration and superstition.

Some years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Sistine Chapel. It is quite a namesake to live up to.

I shall see about that. It has never been my practice to take the words of others as truth without ascertaining the question for myself.

Well, I wouldn't say that I am in charge of anything around here, but who am I not to welcome a beautiful young lady? Welcome to the world of Fortuna, my name is Haer'Dalis, and like you, I'm one of the many people stranded here.

I am hardly a young lady.

[Haer'Dalis? That sounded like one of those ridiculous names those so-called Egyptian cults invented for the gullible fools who joined.]

And one hopes this stranding will be only a temporary affair.

Well it depends upon what we are comparing your age to, now doesn't it? But as to the stranding, that will likely not be terribly temporary. We have after all, both been dragged from our respective worlds to this one, and the ones responsible, don't seem keen on return policies.

There is no need. I am well acquainted with my mirror. Any woman who has three children to raise can hardly be considered young.

They will speak eventually. Even the most evasive of men will give into perseverance eventually. If all else fails, we will simply have to overpower the guards, raise the oppressed peasants to arms, and take over this city.

His voice was hoarse, but that was no reason to keep her ignorant of this place.]

It is merely a matter of perseverance.

I have never met a man that couldn't be worn down eventually. If you take a man by surprise, and behave with sufficient arrogance, he will generally do what you ask.

I assume that our captors are men. The general air of incompetence about this situation is rather typical of them.

[Have an annoyed looking acrobat. Don't worry, it's the scientists she doesn't like.]

They don't like showing us their faces.

We shall see about that. If I must deal with this sort of inconvenience, I much prefer the persons responsible to take a personal interest.

I don't think they really care. It would've been nice if they had warned us about the shadows that attack people here.

[Sora, don't scare off the nice lady!]

Shadows, dear?

[It will take much more than that to scare off this lady.]
