Yoochun could not sleep.  He pondered the events that had just transpired and wondered how it all began; the gypsy’s cryptic predictions, the near-death experience of his sojourn in the sun, the annoying genie and the bat -like creature that set his soul on fire.

Why were they all here?  Were these two companions the key to his freedom?  Would they protect him from the coven which sought to bring him back or destroy him if he refused?

As Junsu lay sleeping upon the silken cushions, the slender Nosferatu gently caressed his cheek.  The bat-like beast stirred for a moment then peacefully resumed his nap.

The genie; energized by the threesome he had just orchestrated, puttered about the vampire’s subterranean home.

Yoochun sighed.

“You are troubled,” the golden voiced djin spoke.  “Tell me what worries you.”

The genie sat down on the pillows; his hands surrounding a hot cup of tea.  He blew on it and it instantly cooled to the right temperature.  The vampire hugged his knees to his chest; naked, he was still uncomfortable around the randy genie despite the fact that they had just made love.

“I had a dream this morning,” he told Jaejoong; the genie sipping on the hot tea.

“Well,” Jaejoong answered, “I’m not the best at interpreting dreams, but I’ll give it a try.”

The vampire bit his lower lip and began to reveal his dream.

“It wasn’t so much a dream; it was more of a memory; of how I became a vampire.”

The genie put the cup of tea down.  He was fascinated.

“Go on,” he encouraged Yoochun.

“I was a soldier; an officer in a war about a hundred years ago.  I was mortally wounded and left to die.  Somehow, my maker, a mysterious woman, sought me out and transformed me as I lay dying.  I don’t know why she chose me; I was never told.”

The genie raised an eyebrow.

“She never told you?  That’s strange.  Perhaps she sought a warrior; a killer ruthless in battle.  Did you have a reputation like that?”

The vampire lowered his head in shame.

“They called me ‘The Lion’ when I fought, but behind my back they referred to me as ‘The Hare.’  Apparently they compared my way with the ladies to the gentleness of a rabbit.”

The genie chuckled then reclined on the cushions; enthralled by the vampire and the strange and wonderful aspects of his past

“Tell me more about your maker,” the genie asked.

Yoochun continued his story.

“She never told me her name.  I asked her many times, but she never spoke it.  It was as if she didn’t want me to get attached to her.  She taught me how to feed and how to command lesser beings using mesmerism.  Every aspect of our relationship was like a business transaction, even the sex.”

The genie froze.

“So, you made love to her?”

Yoochun shook his head.

“No.  It wasn’t like that.  It felt good, but there was no passion.  We never exchanged words of love.  It was just sex.  It was if she were a whore and I was her client, but without the exchange of money.”

The djin pondered Yoochun’s words.

“So she needed the sex, but not the emotional attachment.  Perhaps it was a part of your training; you were no longer human, therefore you had to dispense with human feelings; detach yourself from the lowly creatures you now fed upon.”

The genie could see a tiny tear trickle down the vampire’s cheek.

“But she didn’t count on you retaining your human side; your need for love.  You were desperate to share it with her and to receive it in return.”

The vampire nodded.

“She misjudged me.  The whole world misjudged me.  I had a reputation, but it was blown out of proportion.  I never reveled in the killing; it was my job; I was a soldier and I had to kill to survive, nothing more.  I had no stomach for it.  It made me sick, but I never let anyone see it.  I was a charlatan.”

The genie put his arm around the vampire.

“You were human, with human weaknesses.  Now you are Nosferatu, but the human parts of you are still there, you’ve never lost them.  You were not given a choice; you were turned without your permission.  Too weak to resist a stronger foe, you were powerless.  Fate has been cruel to you, my friend.  It’s been cruel to all of us.”

The sad vampire leaned his head in the crook of the genie’s neck.

“She gave me wealth and power.  We travelled the world and saw so many things, but she never gave me love.”

Jaejoong hugged him tightly.

“What became of her?”

The vampire took a deep breath.

“One day, I told her how I felt; that I needed her more than I needed to feed.  I told her that I loved her.”

The genie seemed to know what Yoochun was going to say next.

“She left you then, didn’t she?”

Yoochun nodded and wiped a tear from his eye.

“She had failed to make me a vicious killer.  Disappointed, she abandoned me; no doubt she went in search of a worthy replacement.  She took nothing from me; left all the wealth I had acquired over the years.  She suggested I seek the protection of a coven; my lack of a true killer instinct would be a disadvantage and I wouldn’t survive on my own.”

The genie patted the vampire on the back.

“But the coven turned out to be too restrictive for you.  You left, and they didn’t like that.”

Yoochun stood up and stretched; the genie licking his lips as he surveyed the Nosferatu's slender form.

“They had plans for me; plans I had no say in.  They weren’t any better than my maker.  I was always being told what to do.  It was like I was back in the army being ordered around.  At least then, I was an officer and commanded some respect.  The coven was filled with authoritarian bureaucrats who didn’t give a damn about my military skills and my past life. They didn’t like the fact that I had a soft spot for females.  I never killed them; the thought made my gorge rise.  My victims were always men who were criminals or wrong doers.  I refused to feed upon anyone who was good and virtuous.  To the leaders of the coven, all humans were food, and any compassion for them was a sign of weakness.”

The genie began to pace the floor.

“Hence you left them, and now they are furious.  No one leaves the coven.  They have a reputation to uphold.  So now you hide from them and only go out to feed.  They want to bring you back and teach you a lesson; to mold you in their image.  If you refuse, they will punish you, and use you as an example to others.”

Yoochun stared into the genie’s eyes.  The djin was wise; his erratic and annoying behavior hid a side that seemed to understand Yoochun’s struggles.

“Fate has been cruel to all of us,” the djin had said; Yoochun pondered what trials and tribulations a magical creature such as Jaejoong could have undergone.

“They mean to bring you back or kill you,” Jaejoong stated.

The vampire ran his fingers through his hair.

“I shouldn’t have sought you out.  I should have ignored the gypsy’s words.  By getting you and Junsu involved in my problems, they have become your problems.  I have endangered you both.  I am sorry.”

Jaejoong frowned.

“You risked your life to free me from my bottle.  Do you know how long I’ve been stuck inside there?  The least I can do for you is keep you out of trouble, and I’m sure Junsu will agree with me.”

Yoochun looked over at the sleeping bat-like creature.

“This isn’t his fight,” the vampire whispered, a hint of guilt in his voice.

Jaejoong took Yoochun’s hand in his own.

“Look at him; he’s kind of child like.  He didn’t realize that the humans were after him.  He was going to be caught eventually.  You saved him.  You shouldn’t have any guilty feelings.  You owe us nothing.”

The genie released the Nosferatu from his grasp.

“Go to him now; comfort him.  Show him you care.  He worships you.”

An eerie green light surrounded the genie; his body turning to smoke.

“Where are you going?” the vampire asked.

“I’m going to pay a visit to this gypsy to see if she has any more predictions for us.”

As the genie floated away Yoochun called out to him.

“Don’t forget to have clothes on when you materialize.”

An evil laugh echoed off the walls as the trail of smoke disappeared under the door.

Disturbed by Jaejoong’s laughter the bat-like creature rubbed his eyes and stretched; his wings extending to their fullest; tail shaking then standing tall.

“Yoochun,” he exclaimed, his voice sleepy and low.  “Shouldn’t you be resting?”

The vampire joined Junsu on the floor.

“I was talking to Jae.”

Junsu looked around the room for the genie.

“He’s gone out.  Don’t worry about him, he’ll be fine.”

Junsu yawned.

“We’re alone now,” the vampire whispered, his body curling next to his lover.

Junsu flinched as the vampire nuzzled him; skin prickling with heat as Yoochun’s tongue lapped his skin.

“Aren’t you tired?”

The vampire nibbled on a pointed ear.

“I need you more than I need my rest,” he told Junsu, the half man, half bat-like creature shivering as strong hands began to fondle his sex.

Junsu purred as his lover stroked him, the urge to please the vampire overshadowing his need to look after his well being.

“You want me now, so soon after we three have bonded?”

“Uh huh,” the vampire responded, his own length painfully hard and eager to be inside his lover.

Junsu instinctively spread his legs for the vampire; his limbs weak and trembling as the slender Nosferatu straddled him.

“Open up for me Su-ah,” he commanded in a firm yet gentle tone, and the bat-like creature obliged him.

A low hiss escaped Junsu’s lips as he felt the head of Yoochun’s sex rub up against his opening.

“You are my Master,” Junsu exclaimed as the tight ring of muscle was breached; his hips moving forward to accommodate for the vampire’s ample girth.  “Command me, and I will obey.”

The vampire’s arms slid around Junsu’s waist; Yoochun pulling his lover’s body in tightly as his thrusts intensified.

“No Junsu,” the vampire groaned as the warmth of his lover’s body enveloped him, “it is you who are the master, and I am your willing slave.”

They kissed sweetly; whispered breathlessly into each other’s ears; words of love that Yoochun had always dreamed of hearing.  He had spoken these words once; but they had fallen upon deaf ears.  Not now; they were genuine and he meant every one of them.  The beauty he made love to echoed the very same sentiments; feelings so strange to him and yet they flowed freely from his mouth.   Junsu’s tail vibrated violently as he reached his climax; fangs biting hard into the vampire’s shoulder.  Yoochun growled; eyes blood red; his own fangs flashing in defiance; his milk-white neck arching backwards as he spilled.

“I love you,” he whispered to Junsu; the creature slumping against Yoochun’s chest; the vampire’s heart beating wildly in the creature’s ear.

Junsu mumbled something incomprehensible as Yoochun brought him gently to the comfort of the silken cushions.  A sense of calm overtook the vampire, and he fell asleep in the embrace of the magnificent creature that he loved.

An unexpected mist filled the streets as the sun fell; it moved slowly down the alley ways until it seeped through the door of Madame Noelle’s parlor.  The gypsy woman clutched the talisman around her neck as the mist took shape; the golden visage of a djin of the mystic East materializing in its place.  The gypsy woman’s eyes grew wide as the handsome genie appeared before her.

The genie took a deep bow, then realized something was amiss.

He was naked.
