Yoochun fell into a melancholy state, the likes of which had never been seen. For days he remained silent, only speaking when directly spoken too. And it was barely speaking at that. It was more like grunts and head nods than actual verbalizations. He kept to himself and did not socialize with others. He barely fed, causing him to become pale and listless. Ocassionally he would go to the work out room and get out his frustrations on the heavy bag. His fellow vampires always left him alone at this time. His screams of anger echoed throughout the walls of the mansion. To Yoochun, his home was no longer a sanctuary. It was a prison.
His life, if it could be called that, was filled with pain and anguish, and it was all because of women. They had broken him. One took his life and made him eternal. Another ripped him to shreds and mated with him against his will. Then there was Hecate. His child. His bastard. His lover. She had destroyed his mind. All three had fucked him. All three had left him. He was utterly alone.
Many months had passed since that night Hecate left. Yoochun had spent that time like the solitary creatures who had come and gone from his life. Now, as he stared out the window of his lonely room, he prayed for death. He was already the undead, but he truly wanted to die. To be obliterated. To be gone forever.
One evening, the rain fell from the sky in a mighty deluge, thunder and lightning crackling in the sky. Yoochun stared out the window, brooding like a character from a Bronte novel. His attention was caught by something at the front gate. It was a dark, hooded figure, small and fragile in appearance. The hair on the back of his neck stood up.
"Hecate."
Yoochun ran through the halls screaming at the top of his lungs.
"Open the front gate," he ordered.
The guards obeyed their elder without question. The electronic front gate opened and the black clad figure stumbled in. Yoochun sprinted out the front door. He stood petrified at the site before him.
"Hecate?"
The creature before him could barely stand. It took a few steps and fell to the ground. Yoochun ran to the huddled individual, his pulse racing at an alarming rate. He pulled back the hood and stared into a familiar face.
A pair of dark, almond shaped eyes looked up at him.
"Father."
Yoochun lifted his daughter into his arms and brought her inside. She was drenched to the bone. He sensed there was something different about her, but he wasn't sure. He sat her down on a chair in the lounge near the giant fire place. He vigorously rubbed her body to give her warmth.
"Easy Father," she scolded him. "Gently."
These were strange words to him, as Hecate had proven she was not as delicate as she seemed. But as Yoochun continued to tend to her, he began to realize what she meant. She pulled off her outer garment, revealing the reason for her weakened condition. She was pregnant. Yoochun stumbled backwards, nearly falling into the fire place.
"It's ok, Father," she assured him. "I'm ok."
Hecate sat back down and continued to warm herself by the fire. Yoochun was speechless. Fear gripped him. His daughter was with child. Most likely, it was his doing.
"Hecate," he whispered to her. "Is it mine? Tell me girl. Is it mine?"
Hecate sighed deeply. She looked into her father's eyes; eyes filled with sorrow and regret.
"What do you think, Yoochun," she mocked him. "Why else would I come back to this place?"
Yoochun fell to the floor. He crawled on his hands and knees towards her, his tears running down his cheeks. He put his arms around her waist and buried his head in her lap. His pitiful sobs reverberated off the walls of the lounge. He was not aware that his brothers had followed him. They had heard the commotion, and now they stood beside each other in shock and disbelief. Hecate had returned and she was with child. Enormously with child, and Yoochun was the father. It was a sad state of affairs. They could only imagine what kind of creature stirred within Hecate's womb.
"Forgive me," he begged her. "I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."
"No," Junsu spoke. The usually sweet and happy Junsu was filled with hatred. "She should beg you for forgiveness. She brought this upon herself. She used her powers to rob you of your mind. This is all her fault."
The vampires all stood in awe of Junsu's defiance. But he was right. Well, sort of. Hecate was an enigma. A half breed with a sickness. She didn't ask to be brought into this world, nor did she have any control over her power. Perhaps the one to blame was Lila, her mother. It was Lila who was responsible for the killings in City Park. It was Lila who forced herself on a captive Yoochun. She had mated with him and left, never telling Yoochun that he had fathered a child. A bastard, an abomination. A monster. Perhaps when Hecate was born, Lila realized her mistake. When she was old enough, Lila had abandoned her, forcing Hecate to seek out the father she never knew. Unseen forces were at play. The Fates had woven their destinies. No one was to blame. But now, history could very well repeat itself. The baby inside of Hecate was doomed. Doomed to be feared and hated. And time was running out. Hecate was in her ninth month and due at any moment. All that could be done was prepare.
Jae rolled his eyes. He knew that he was going to have to be the responsible and calm one as usual. He clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.
"Let's move it," he barked. He pointed at Yoochun.
"Bring her to the infirmary now."
Yoochun helped Hecate get up from the chair. They all wound their way through the halls of the mansion until they reached the infirmary. Jae's assistant was there, whistling as he was cleaning up. His stopped his jovial tune at the site of Yoochun's very pregnant daughter.
"Holy shit," he said to himself.
Jae nodded to him and he went to work. Yunho took Changmin and Junsu aside.
"This isn't going to be pretty boys. Get Yoochun out of here and keep him out."
They nodded. They grabbed Yoochun and practically dragged him out by his heels.
Yunho looked over at Jae. He was too busy to acknowledge his leader. Yunho left the infirmary and went about the busy of running his clan.
Jae looked over at Hecate. She smiled gently at him.
"Did your water break, sweetie," he asked her?
She nodded in silence.
"Do you think it's time?" Hecate was breathing hard. She closed her eyes and winced in pain.
"Soon, Jae. Soon."
A few hours passed and Hecate went into labor. Yoochun paced up and down the hall as any normal, expectant father would, but this situation was far from normal.
Hecate's screams could be heard through the walls. Changmin and Junsu used all their strength to hold him back. Seconds turned to minutes, and then the screaming stopped. There was silence.
Jae opened the door. He was wiping blood from his hands with a towel. Yoochun was panting heavily.
"Well?"
"I'm sorry, Jae said. " The baby didn't make it."
Yoochun fell to the floor. He curled up in a little ball and began to weep. Hecate called out to him in her raspy voice.
"Father. "
Jae helped Yoochun get up. He walked into the room. Jae's assistant held the baby in his arms. It was a little boy.
Hecate was weak. She was very pale and covered in sweat. Yoochun glanced over at Jae. Jae shook his head.
Yoochun was beside himself. He sat down next to her on the bed. Gently, he lifted her in his arms.
"I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry."
Hecate buried her head in the crook of Yoochun's neck. He could hear her gasping for breath. She didn't have long.
"Father," she whispered.
"Shh, Hecate. Shh"
Just then, a cry came out from the front gate. A guard came running in to the infirmary.
"There's a huge panther at the front gate."
Yoochun barked out an order.
"Let her in now," he demanded.
The guard ran out. Within minutes, the werecat known as Lila was in their presence. All watched in amazement as she transformed herself into her human form. She stood naked before them. Everyone but Yoochun was dazzled by her perfect body.
Jae shuffled everyone out of the infirmary. Lila looked at Yoochun with her glowing green eyes.
"Go now Yoochun," she told him. "Leave her to me."
A reluctant Yoochun walked outside the door. Jae's assistant still held on to the unfortunate baby.
Yoochun walked over and took the little boy into his arms. He held the child gently, even though it was dead. With tears in his eyes, Yoochun kissed the boy on his forehead. A few minutes went by and there was no sound from inside the room. Then a faint voice called out to him. He gave the babe back to the assistant.
"Lila?"
Yoochun opened the door. It wasn't Lila that had called him, but Hecate. Lila lay sprawled across her daughters body. She was dead. Yoochun held his hand to his mouth. Blood dripped from Lila's wrist. She had offered herself up to Hecate. Her daughter had bled her dry. Lila had made the ultimate sacrifice. Yoochun slid to the floor. Unable to contain himself, he wept openly. The grief was more than he could take.
"Father," Hecate called to him. "It's ok. Everything is ok."
The vampire's buried the little boy and Lila next to each other. There was nothing more to do. Hecate recovered quickly, but Yoochun did not. He would never be the same. Hecate did her best, but Yoochun was in his own little world. After weeks of trying to help him snap out of his malaise, she left him once more. He didn't seem to care......
Epilogue
"Father."
He said nothing.
"I'm back. Yoochun, I'm back."
Silence.
"I brought you something. Look."
There was a dull thud and then another right after. Yoochun looked up.
"See Father. A present for you."
Two severed heads were on the table. The head of the woman who turned him, along with the Incubus who had violated him.
"See Father. I have avenged you. I've redeemed myself. Will you take me back now Father? Will you?"
"Father? I love you Father. Yoochun....."
