Summary: Watching Minseok talk about the vast universe out there made him fall even deeper into the beautiful abyss that is Minseok.
It was late at night, exactly 11:30 in the night and the moon was up proudly, looming over the still bustling city of Seoul with loud cars shifting gears and accelerating swiftly from road to road. But Minseok was asleep, tucked under his sheets and cocooned into a huge bolster.
The night was still young as his friends would have told him if they saw Minseok sleeping peacefully in his double-sized bed, the other side of the bed was still cold, missing the presence of a certain somebody but Minseok was too tired to even wait for Lu Han to get home. Because, God, who knows where could that guy be right now?
Then there was the twist of the doorknob and a push of the door, its rusty hinges making squeaking noises as it was pushed open by somebody. It was Lu Han, clad in his old hoodie and baggy pants. He slowly closed the door, leaving a small crack. Lu Han had never closed the door fully and Minseok and him would end up fighting over it.
Lu Han chuckled at the sleeping figure of Minseok. From up here, Minseok was beautiful; he looked so serene and delicate that Lu Han just wanted to scoop him up from the bed. Lu Han looked out of the open window since Minseok forgot to close the curtains and saw the stunning view of the full moon. His eyes widened a little and he glanced back at Minseok.
“Minseok-ah~” He cooed just after he had kneeled in front of the bed and folded his arms over the sheets, gently poking the back of Minseok’s shoulder as he was on his side, facing away from Lu Han.
There was no response from the older and Lu Han smiled to himself again. “Minseok-ah~ The moon is pretty tonight.” But not as pretty as you. Lu Han muttered to the sleeping Minseok again. There was a small groan before Minseok rolled on his side, now his face was only inches away from Lu Han’s.
“Let’s go on an adventure~” Lu Han announced just before he straightened up and bended down again, carefully picking up Minseok in his arms. Minseok yawned, tentatively wrapping his arms around Lu Han’s neck.
“Mmm?” Was the groggy response of his lover against his neck. Lu Han smiled a little at this then slowly adjusted Minseok on his arms. Minseok just curled up some more, nuzzling his head against Lu Han’s neck, perhaps thinking that this was all just a dream.
Lu Han’s hand went down to Minseok’s waist, holding him up securely and the other on the back of his knees, holding him close to not let him fall. Minseok trusts him.
There was a soft and low but messy drawl of a word that sounded like ‘adventure’ from Minseok’s lips and Lu Han nodded; now turning around to go out of their room.
“We’re going on an adventure.” Lu Han repeated and closed the door with his hip, there was a click and Lu Han pulled away from the wooden door. His hands were slowly clenching and unclenching around Minseok. Minseok wasn’t heavy that was sure, but he was so afraid of dropping Minseok.
Then there was a soft snore, indicating that Minseok had indeed fallen asleep in Lu Han’s arms. Lu Han liked that, a lot. Because he knew that in his arms, Minseok felt as if he was at home and that he was safe. He was. Lu Han made sure of that.
Lu Han tiptoed softly to the elevator with Minseok still snuggled up in his arms, he was thankful that Minseok didn’t drool a lot… He used the hand behind Minseok’s legs to push the elevator button for it to open.
The taller hummed to a little song, gently shifting his weight from his heels to his toes to rock Minseok back to sleep as the older started stirring a little in his lean arms. Minseok only nuzzled his face more to Lu Han’s neck though, tickling the other with his hot breath against his skin.
“Are you not tired?” A soft whisper came from Minseok and Lu Han laughed before stepping inside the elevator.
“You’re awake?” He asked as the elevator door closed in front of him, using the hand on Minseok’s waist to push down the button at the top most part. Minseok pulled away just a little to meet eyes with Lu Han before nodding a little.
“Yeah, when I realized that you are really carrying me and I’m not dreaming.” Minseok smiled, all teeth and gums. Lu Han just had the need to lean in and kiss his smile. They kiss for a while, soft and innocent before the elevator beeped open again (but no one came in).
“Where are we going?” Minseok whispered as he had placed his head on Lu Han’s neck again, enjoying the way how their chests pressed and heaved together into an even rhythm as if their breathing was synchronized beautifully, as if they were each other’s puzzle pieces that complete each other.
“On an adventure.” Lu Han smiled cheekily towards Minseok who shrugged in response, proceeding on the activity that he was doing earlier, snuggling up to Lu Han because boy he did enjoy Lu Han’s warmth when he was in nothing but his tank top and shorts.
There was a comfortable silence in the elevator when finally, the door opened and it seemed like Minseok started falling asleep since the older wasn’t budging in his arms. Lu Han shrugged it off as he walked out of the elevator. They were greeted by a cool breeze in the rooftop, Lu Han enjoyed that feeling but when he looked down at Minseok, he was curling even more towards him, wanting more of his warmth.
“Love, you okay?” Lu Han asked and he walked towards the edge of the rooftop then sitting down by the railings. Minseok was now on his lap, arms wrapped around his neck and legs completely still, stretched out in front of him.
“Just cold.” Minseok replied after a while and Lu Han told him to pull back a little. So he did. Lu Han pulled off his hoodie and slipped it into Minseok, with them bursting into fits of laughter because of the difficulty with this position. Lu Han though had managed to pull it on Minseok properly.
Minseok scampered off from Lu Han’s lap and sat down beside him, bringing his knees to his chest and then leaning towards Lu Han’s shoulder. “Tough day?” Minseok asked, his eyes shut and Lu Han nodded in response.
“Yeah, Yixing was being an asshole as per usual. That kid really.” Lu Han laughed softly at the memories of work from today… which was really not that pleasant in anyway. Minseok laughed with him, enjoying the soft timbres of Lu Han’s voice that seemed to dance with the wind.
“How about you? How was work?” Lu Han asked, snaking his arm around Minseok waist and pulled him in closer to share his warmth.
“Terrifying. Numbers make me dizzy.” Minseok said, shrugging his shoulders a little. Lu Han kissed the top of Minseok’s head, he really didn’t know why Minseok chose to be a Quantity Surveyor when on their high school days, Minseok only slept during maths.
“As always.”
“Yeah, as always.”
They immerse each other into talks about work for a while, about the funny episodes that happened that day and Lu Han really just treasured these moments a lot. Though this was the first time that it happened to them, he knew that he wanted this to happen more. After the long talk about work with hilarious reactions, they kept quiet for a while, just looking up at the bright full moon and star-sprinkled sky.
“You like the moon a lot.” Lu Han reminded Minseok before reaching out to link their fingers together. Minseok nodded in response, slipping under Lu Han’s arm to lie against his stomach. Their fingers rest in front of Minseok’s stomach and one of them let out a sigh of satisfaction.
For the next few minutes, Lu Han and Minseok indulged themselves into another conversation about the stars, the moon, the galaxies and the other planets out there. So near yet so far from human’s reach. Lu Han wondered why Minseok didn’t pursue being an astronomer instead.
Watching Minseok talk about the vast universe out there made him fall even deeper into the beautiful abyss that is Minseok. He loved that feeling in his chest when Minseok’s lips moved, talking about stars and their names that he couldn’t quite comprehend but he loved listening to Minseok, he loved how Minseok’s eyes gleamed talking about the moon and how mysterious it really was. He loved the way how Minseok fell in love with stars and the moon all over again. He felt himself falling in love with Minseok all over again.
“Lu,” Minseok nudged Lu Han which pulled the younger from his train of thoughts about his boyfriend’s beauty. “You said we’d go on an adventure. How is talking on the rooftop an adventure?” Minseok asked, looking up at Lu Han with his brows knotted together. Lu Han found that cute, as always.
“This is an adventure.” Lu Han said, looking deep into Minseok’s eyes. Though he didn’t originally plan to have an adventure into Minseok’s inner thoughts about his interests, it was better than his plan… which was nothing in general, he just wanted to scoop up Minseok and stare up at the moon but listening to Minseok talk about his true interests was already an adventure for him.
“It is?” Minseok asked, his tone rising at the end. Lu Han nodded and kissed Minseok’s lips quickly.
“It is.”
