Summary: Yule Ball is coming and they don't have dates yet.
Girls are talking about dresses and hairstyles while boys are bragging to each other about their dates, amidst of the loud chatter in the great hall, Lu Han asks Minseok who slides next to him over bacon and eggs during breakfast in the Great Hall. “Do you have a date for the Yule Ball yet?”
This year, the Triwizard Competition is going to be held in Hogwarts again, many years after the death of Cedric Diggory. However, many tweaks and other revisions had been done to the said event to prevent further deaths, and at the same time, Hogwarts is much more protected this time.
Minseok takes a plate, shrugs and puts bacon and eggs on it. “Not yet, do we really need to have dates for the Yule Ball?” Minseok asks him with cute furrowed brows as he stuffs his face with bacon and eggs, Lu Han only laughs, shaking his head before scooting over to make more space for Minseok.
“Of course, won’t you feel lonely if you don’t have a date?” Lu Han tells him, starting on his own bacon as well. Minseok only looks at him in response, as if the idea of having a date for the Yule Ball is very baffling and it is taking a while for his brain to process the idea of a ball.
Expectedly, Minseok shrugs. “I don’t see the point in that.” He proceeds on engulfing the breakfast served upon him, completely ignoring the fact the he still doesn’t have a date for the Yule Ball and this, Lu Han finds very innocent and very cute about him.
“What about you? I’m pretty sure you have a date already.” Minseok side-eyes him, raises an expectant brow at him only to be answered with a shake of his head from Lu Han.
“No, I don’t have a date… I…” He pauses for a while, blinking his eyes at Minseok with his breathing stopped as well, thinking and rethinking whether he should admit his inner dilemma to Minseok or not. Minseok is your best friend. He tells to himself, nodding inwardly to himself before facing Minseok with a face that speaks of genuine honesty. “I haven’t asked anyone.”
Minseok looks at him as if the words he uttered out are the most ridiculous thing Minseok has heard all morning and a part of Lu Han’s brain says to him that he is being ridiculous about not asking anyone for a date but he has reasons. “That’s dumb.”
“Shut up.”
(When the Yule Ball comes, Lu Han and Minseok will come without dates. After the ceremonies and cheering for the chosen Champions, Minseok will look at Lu Han across the table, flash him a knowing smirk and then they will be dashing back to the common room with their fancy tuxedos still on. Together, they will spend their time sitting and lazing around in the common room, laughing over the small amount of food and the Butterbeer they managed to sneak in. Much later, after the food is consumed and they had consumed all the food and chugged down the Butterbeer, they will sit together on the couch by the fire with Minseok leaning against Lu Han, both pairs of their legs crossed. Lu Han will play with Minseok’s hands and Minseok will just watch him with an amused curl of his lips. And certainly, they will conclude that this is much better than Yule Ball.)
