[It was rather understandable that Ling was surprised to wake up in a car. He sat up with a jolt, sensing another presence in the car with him. When he looked he saw it was Ran Fan, so for the moment at least he was relieved.
What was with this place? Westport, monsters, that Soviet town, and then those box tops. It had been a few days, but he still felt rather guilty that he'd had the Stone and lost it. It was a stroke of misfortune that Greed had gotten fed up (at least from his point of view). And he had never told Ran Fan about him, so he couldn't blame her for the fact that she seemed upset.
So what was going on now? He of course reached for the door handle to open it, but found it was stuck tight. A bit surprised, he gave it a few more tries.
