I think it's awesome that he said this. Yes, it may seem a little behind in the times for some of us who are more progressive, or are, in fact GLBT. But from a personal perspective, he's shared that he has evolved (that's always good). He was not afraid to stand before the world and say that he supports same sex marriage... which in an election year, could totally kill his chances for re-election. Believe it or not, (and sadly) much of the country is still homophobic. It's a huge step for an American leader. I applaud him for standing up and speaking his personal truth, not many people are willing to stand before a few conservative friends and share that the support gay-marriage especially if they don't know what the reaction would be... let alone say it before the world. Many people look up to the president... if they like him or not, they respect his position. And, really... I'm hoping that this will open the minds of more people who may not have been so open-minded before.
