Bull of Heaven booklaunch (Blue Star folks, take note: Lady Vivienne sighting)

The Juggler brings us a recap of the NYC booklaunch for Michael Lloyd's Bull of Heaven: the Mythic Life of Eddie Buczynski and the Rise of the New York Pagan, which is a pricey book if you buy the print copy ($44), but only $10 for the ebook and I highly recommend it. (Caveat: The book is controversial. Lloyd has been compared to Aiden Kelly, and a ( Read more... )

One of Franque's initiators, and therefore your Craft great-great-grandfather, if I've done my math correctly. :-)

He was also a bunch of other things. Founded three traditions, worked in several others, was partner to Herman Slater of Magickal Childe fame, etc. He's a name you should know.

Yes, but are you reacting now to Eddie, or Michael, or both? :-)

I have no doubt Eddie was a mixed bag, but in a lineage that contains Kenny and Tzipora . . . well, Eddie doesn't come close to being the most problematic person in my upline, does he? I'd rather at least have and know and teach the history, good and bad. I wasn't aware of the Lloyd controversy before I bought it, and there's enough history in it that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else (without taking a year out of my life to go knock on people's doors in NYC and ask) that I'm not sorry I bought it.

Thanks for posting the link; I've not had time to read blogs in a while and so The Juggler had already scrolled off the screen.

Glad to see the "historical folks" such as Lady Vivienne turned out - she's one of my Craft great-grandmothers as well, as she and Lady Gwen are in the same position in my overall lineage (which is kind of weird, since NECTW, which was Eddie's original tradition and Lady Gwen was his initiator.)

You know, if you post at Dreamwidth, you can automatically crosspost things to here...
