[You might have saw a flicker of blue and metal, but no, it's just Aradia. She's suddenly human again, which isn't her idea of a fun day.
She has the scarf that Kanaya made for her wrapped tightly around her neck and she's bundled up in the warmest clothes her closet had available. She's a little mismatched in exchange for being warmer, but she's still shivering a bit. She's dragging the jump rope along. She doesn't want to play with it.] Miss Higa? What are you doing out here? It's pretty cold!
Major Cold War era mainstream American holidays? Yep. Christmas seems to be the big one, according to what the long-term residents say. They left things alone at the other major Wheel points, when there wasn't something that overlapped.
[ Ilsa is staring at the bench down the path from them. ]
[Nyanpire is stepping briskly through the snow, cold but not too terribly unpleasantly cold. He had been growing his winter coat. And vampires were vampires, even cut-rate fuzzy ones like him.
He's excited to spot Ilsa, though. Someone to warm his paws on would be welcome.]
Nyaa-a! [He cannot resist the scooping up, although he does stiffen and squirm. It is only when he is deposited inside Ilsa's jacket, all nice and snuggly, that he settles.
Oooh. This is REALLY NICE.]
I have fur, nyaa! And vampires don't get cold.
[But he is snuggling in and starting to purr...]
I wanna make sure everyone's okay, nyaa. And snow is pretty-pretty!
Tch, I know was ice and snow does to toe-pads, hon. You make your patrols, but then you make sure to get the ice out from between your toes.
[ She skritches his head. ]
If you start to think you feel the cold, get to shelter. I had trouble with my empathy once already this morning. There's some other people who are losing parts of themselves, so don't rely on being a vampire all the time.
Richard Grey, liebchen. Samantha Achewood spoke of him before she died...it sounded like he might have been her lover, or a close friend. He... may have been the drowned body found in Westport. Samantha thought he, of all of the, might have known something useful.
That is, if I'm remembering all the bits and pieces correctly....

We've been ordered to shop in Westport anyway. Maybe it's worth going just to see what we can learn -- or what other people remember.
Have you found any of the records from that time? There are some over in the library archives.
[He slips around, providing as much warm body-contact as he can without getting in her way. He knows he's more used to cold than she is... and he's been careful to protect his core heat. He can act as a mini-furnace...]
The library hasn't been that helpful. I'd swear there was a boredom cantrip on them, but honestly, a lot of the records seem to be copies of each other.
[ She leans into him, feeling miserable in the cold. ]
I can't seem to manage a simple trip to the store without courting frostbite. We've got enough staples, but there isn't much left in the way of fresh food at the grocer's.
[ She gives a wry smile. ] Between stockpiling after Thanksgiving, and my plans for holiday meals, we're okay for a good bit. If I can get Egon and John to move downstairs, so we can all be in the living room, that's less house to heat.

If they need to cut more services, what goes next?

Not sure. I doubt they would do anything too damaging. Mind if I sit with you?

It was warmer by the tree, but the music is too loud for thinking.

[She stands behind the bench.] So does Mayfield usually time- strangeness around the holidays, or is it just coincidence?

We need more information from that time, and we only find out who might talk about that time after they're dying.
