aww but that would mean missing out on my opportunity to lunge wildly at him... ;-(

It's rather frustrating really, because John Paul actually did a reasonable amount of good things, but Benedict seems to have either made things worse, or reversed the good things done by John Paul (for example JP looked set to condone the use of Condoms in Africa within monogamous relationships)

I can't for the life of me remember my source for this, but in the news article I linked originally, where it mentions the senior official saying that condoms have holes in - that was Ratzinger (now pope)

yeah, exactly, but for that to have gone through, the Pope himself would have had to condone it, and JP was apparently going to do that reasonably soon, however he died before this happened. Then Ratzinger comes along...
