I saw a bass saxophone for the first time last night...it was in an electro-acoustic piece featuring two each of soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, and ONE BASS SAXOPHONE. And very subtle synthesized sounds enhancing the extended techniques already being performed by the saxes.

Bitchin'. I've probably played that very same bass sax back in the day. What kicks even more ass is the elusive contrabass sax.
